The Queen's Messenger

Part One
Part Two

Journey through the medieval wonder land of the story "The Queen's Messenger." Dragons, unicorns, Pegasai, and other mystical creatures combine to make this world a dangerous and also wondrous one. Take a jaunt through evil or rather in light. In beauty or in a barren wasteland. Make sure to take your camping gear along so you will be close to the action as possible.

Phil gave it: 3.9/5

The characters are well formed, good introduction. The chapters are a bit short but that is okay because it is a fan-fiction type story which usually are about 45 pages typed. Plus depending on writing styles it works in its length. I like fantasy realms. I like people who write what they know and research.

Jay gave it: 4/5

When I first started reading, I was like "Unicorns? Erm..." But The Queen's Messenger is an awesome piece of fantasy. And yeah, Unicorns kick ass. The story is split up into two separate quests, with different casts and everything. My only qualm with it is that it's so short! Really could use some filling in. Despite this, the characters are awesome, and the plot is original and interesting. Real fantasy. And Black Unicorns! I mean, they're just freaking cool.

Awakenings

A young amnesiatic woman with mysterious power returns to her old homeland, searching for her past and identity. . .

Jay gave it: 5/5

Definitely a saga worth reading, learning about this character as she learns about herself. I think the most appealing part of the story is the unique point of view it's written in - second person; a character who witnessed the events but wasn't neccesarily the center of attention through them. It gives the reader someone to identify with in the middle of the magic and hocus-pocus.

Seara

The story of Tanara's mentor comes through in this short story linking The Queen's Messenger to Awakenings.

Jay gave it: 3/5

Works great as a companion piece to the previous stories, giving some insight on how everything comes together. It is, however, painfully short and to the point. Kinda like in classic mythology.

Beautiful

A street girl gets her life back in this moving story.

Jay gave it: 5/5

A wonderful story that shows you don't need dragons or super powers to make it interesting. Definitely one of my faves on the site.

The Locker

A look into the private life of one in a million students. . .

Jay gave it: 5/5

I've seen this locker. I know the person who belongs to it. A troubled mind indeed (wink). This really makes you think about what kind of person you're looking at... there's clues everywhere to the personality.

Popular Girl

More about what you don't see behind the stereotypes at school. . .

Jay gave it: 5/5

Running along a similar theme to The Locker, this one also makes ya think about what goes on with those kids at school. Very deep. Hey Carla, do you write for Silverchair by any chance?

The Muse

What would you do for a klondike bar (of love)?

Jay gave it: 5/5

Now here's the dark disturbing stuff I knew lurked somewhere in Carla's messed up psyche. The real disturbing part here is that you can totally understand the main character O.o

Prisoner Without a Name

The end of a struggle. . .

Jay gave it: 4/5

Pretty cool, but I'm probably going to ruin the whole point of it by wondering what happens next. Damn I'm daft >.<

Solitare

Have you ever felt like you were playing a game of solitare? Except there are no cards and the game is your life?

Jay gave it: 5/5

It's ten minutes after I read it and I STILL have goosebumps. O.O this is so freaking chilling I feel like curling up into a ball.

Pavlovian Dog Syndrome

Some startling comparisons.

Phoenix

Reason #537 not to piss Carla off: close ties to mythical creatures of apocalyptic power.

Shadows

What does the future hold?

Shards

A healthy dose of pain centric poetry.

Broken Saints

Well, I thought I wasn't going to send this to BS because the contest info said that it closes September 30th. Then I caught the notice on the main page and decided to give it a try anyways. Just in case they don't like it, I'm sending this to the site just so that SOMEONE can benefit from my 2:00 am writing binge.

Raven

A very long time coming, this brainchild tells the story of unlikely friends in dire circumstances. A long and gripping read, this one is highly recommended for any adventure fan!

Carlaean Myths

A mythology from the depths of Carla's own mind. Expect new twists on familiar ideas.

#1 In the Beginning
#2 Balance
#3 The Forging of the Metal Goddess
#4 The Gift of Knowledge
#5 The Jealousy of Soladon
#6 In Damazka's Forest
#7 The Half Immortal
#8 The Test

The Chalice

A poem type thinger that was inspired by a dream and a sunset.

Dialogue of a Fractured Mind

A short story like thingy inspired by one of the corpses in the hall of failures in Raven.

Too Young

Too young to feel this old. . .

Set in Death

Let's all remember not to book Carla as a motivational speaker.

Heart of Strength

What? Carla wrote a non-dark and disturbing poem?! That's not right . . .

Enjalai's Prayer

Following the same vein as my Carlaean Myths, Enjalai is the goddess of the ill. She possesses the ability to both give and take away ailments. Recently suffering a number of illnesses at once, I created her and wrote a prayer for her help.

Telling Tales

Written as a tale for a character I play in an online roleplaying community to tell at the local inn, I decided maybe I should share it with FHS when it finally decided to stop writing itself!

The Sea

Despair can drown you.

This Past Year

Reflections on a hard year.

Carcasses

A dismal view of the path we tread.

McWizard's

My New Year's resolution one year was to write the most crack headed story I could come up with. This is the result.

Wishing Well

A humorous tale of being careful what you wish for.
