The webcomic...

Supanova 2004. David Carradine will be there! And anime and comics and bountiful pop culture!

The original CSI is the best. (whoo-aoo, who-who, who-who! Not an owl, but the opening theme!)

The last Supanova for Sydney. :(

The Vines rocked the Big Day Out.

I've finally done it! I've redesigned my website and it will now be operating under the professional name another level. This was originally going to be the name for my Games Design company, but I'm going to get my value out of it and start using it now. Plus I needed to create a more professional site.

There's a story behind the name too. I tend to be a bit slow at getting jokes the way people usually get them. I'll find some other meaning in it and laugh at that instead of the obvious pun. Whenever I would understand things in a different way and become confused by everyone else's responses, looking like a slow idiot, my friend Jarrod used to say, "It's okay, Bridge, another level." My sister saw this happen and said I should call my Games Company just that, "another level". Apple's "think different" is a slogan which speaks of the same vision that creative people have. We don't think like everyone else. We are definitely on another level.

This year I was awarded a scholarship for a Diploma of 3D Animation at the Computer Graphics College in Sydney, so I'll be far too busy to blog, not that I ever did much anyway. I will continue to update the new website from now on and leave echo_concepts alone. So this is it. Over and out for echo_concepts. Keep watching the skies!

Well TAFE's over, and I'm living it up in Sydney. I haven't updated till now because I was internetless but I've finally been able to afford unwired (phew!). So the Gallery's been tidied up a bit(chucked out most of the old dodgy stuff) and i've posted a couple more pics.

In other news I got it into my head that seeing as I read so many webcomics I should do one myself! But I am not so good on the writing side of things. Anyway that didn't stop me from writing an unfunny one about my time camping in Ulladulla last year with friends. I'm gonna write some more because it's kinda cool for my friends.

That's all for now anyways, I just thought I'd better update. Gonna go watch Great Teacher Onizuka now!

Yay! Comicfest approaches! And thanks to some casual waitressing work I'm gonna go on a little bit of a shopping spree! What I would love is to go in cosplay, but it can be hard finding an anime or game character that resembles you which isn't big breasted and scantily clad! The closest i could get was Tifa from Final Fantasy VII but I still don't know if I'd have the guts! It made me realise just how brave all you cosplayers are-Kudos to you cosplayers, kudos to you!
Speaking of not so final fantasies, I have just bought myself a copy of Final Fantasy X-2, and I am just revelling in being able to play in the realm of FFX again! Words cannot describe.
I am looking forward to the release of the Kill Bill Vol. 1 DVD and the second film on April 22. The DVD is meant to come out before the film so I'll buy it and I might even be able to get it signed by David Carradine at Comicfest!! Yep, the Kung fu master will be attending the con along with Gimli son of Gloin or perhaps some of you know him better as John Rhys-Davies. In any case the prospect of a signed DVD full of slashing is too exciting to think about! Can't wait for that sequel. With so much to look forward to and so much to enjoy I think I'll be off. Over and out.

I am free! No I wasn't granted bail from prison, I am free of that other system which is like a Kafka novel in it's infuriating merry-go-round of paper signing, permission-getting and other hypocrisy: School. Yes the HSC exams are over, the results are in and I couldn't be more relieved. I did surprisingly better than some of my cohorts in the UAI, especially since I don't do Maths, but I do both Drama and Art while some of them did up to four extensions. I got a 78.05 which was a happy surprise indeed.
So with that phase of my life over(Hahaha!...ahem excuse me, thats still pretty exciting for me) I am diving straight back into the education system in the form of TAFE. After completing a graphic design course there I hope to move onwards and upwards to the College of Fine Arts (sigh! that prospect is also very exciting for me). In the meantime I hope to get job which means money which means Japan. Once I've saved enough for the airfare I'm gonna pack my bags off to the land of the rising sun to teach English and have the time of my life.
I have it all worked out don't I? Ah the idealistic dreams of youth. Speaking of youth I also completed another sanctimonious ritual aside from graduation that marks the end of High School life and that is Schoolies. Its the Aussie equivalent of America's Spring Break and it occurs all over Australia, generally on the coast. My friends and I trekked up to hippy/surfy town Byron Bay to drink, party, eat, sleep and drink. It was an awesome experience that offered some valuable closure on the HSC. I think if I had just stayed at home I would have just drifted around aimlessly indefinitely, now I'm ready to move on into the future. Here I go then...

I've finally put up the supanova photos!

It's been a while since I've posted because of schoolwork, but apart from school I now also have a job. Yes I've joined the working masses as a part-time graphic designer for the council. I'll be working on some CD cover designs plus some promotional material for a Youth compilation CD with another girl. So I've braved my first job interview and have come out grinning!

With this wonderful new 'employed' status I will soon have a little do-re-mi to save up for that elusive trip to Japan, however I am finding that the dosh is suprisingly hard to keep a hold of! With such exciting things as The Animatrix and Spirited Away Special Edition DVDs and X-men movie marathons and graphic novels and Newtype USA to buy it's no wonder I'm not coming out of this job much richer!

7:41pm 15/04/2003

I've stuck up a few more sketches and a quick CG composition of sketches('Apparition')-for some reason I often come out with sadistic images during English. This pic is a less freaky one!

Supanova has been and gone and apparently it was the last to grace the Sydney CBD as it is moving onwards and upwards to Brisbane later this year. I will post some photos when I get my film developed. Highlights include: 'Squall and Rinoa in the flesh!' and 'the Hijacked Madman table!'

Huzzah! Half-yearlys are finally over and the holidays are in full swing. Time to welcome PlayStation thumb, late night artists' eye-strain and short lazy days of idleness.

That's right, short. Unfortunately Autumn's icy fingers are lurking here down under, bringing plenty of crisp winds and ever-shortening days. However I have to admit, there's nothing like huddling close to an electric heater with an 'old lady blanket' on your knees and a hot chocolate in your hands!

12:32pm 02/02/2003

Well I've finally got all the images up in the gallery. For now anyway... I'll bring up some new things when I finish them but right now the HSC has my full attention so it might be a while before I get anything done.

Meanwhile, during the holidays I had (without hyperbole) the best day of my life. Big Day Out 2003 rocked the casbah. My fave acts were The Vines, Foo Fighters and Xzibit. Along with them though, I really enjoyed You Am I, The Living End and 28 Days. Best. Day. Ever.

People complained about The Vines not rocking hard for the whole show, but I found such songs as "Autumn Shade", "Homesick", and "Mary Jane" just as riveting to see live. The Vines have a wide range of styles in their music, not just "Get Free" and "Outtathaway", and I think if you went to see just that then you really didn't realise that there's more to the Vines.

Not that I'm being biased or anything... ;)

I'm back from a very relaxing holiday in Byron Bay and I'm throwing myself into some more relaxation rather than complete the several assignments I have due first term back. While I was away I drew from a popular magazine from Japan called FRUITS. This magazine features the latest fashions emerging on the streets of Harajuku and my uncle had picked up several copies over the years of travelling there so I was in drawing heaven.

Coincidentally, when I returned home I discovered that there was an exhibition on a collection of photographs by Shoichi Aoki at the Powerhouse Museum from the very magazine I had been studying. I found it so inspiring as an artist that I had to buy the book of photos from FRUITS at the shop there. I recommend this exhibition to anyone remotely interested in manga or Japan because it is incredibly inspiring.

Merry Christmas! This year the festive season (which is Summer here in Australia) has brought many joys with it. Most prominent in my mind at the moment are the gestures of love that my family has embodied in the gifts of Photoshop 7, Oni and a Gunsmith Cats DVD. Now I could claim that life doesn't get any better than this, but then there's the arrival of the next instalment of the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

I'll admit, I have drooled over teasing commercials for competitions to win tickets to the premiere, my heart has jumped at the half second sights of Frodo and Faramir and the Battle of Rohan and my anticipation grows, pondering the adventures in this section of the story. The first appearance of Ents, Frodo and Sam's perilous journey towards the Cracks of Doom, and oh so much more. The website is keeping me salivating so by boxing day I'll have to swim to the cinema.

So I'll close off my first entry by wishing a very merry Christmas to all and an even merrier boxing day!
