About the Artist
Welcome to my Dream Hill Studio. I would like to tell you a little about myself and invite you to visit my studio. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and always had a love of creative endeavors such as crafts, sewing, gardening, and quilting. After my eight children were grown and my husband retired, we moved to Poplarville, Mississippi. I then had a chance to pursue my dream of developing my art skills. I started by taking courses at a local craft shop and attending art classes at the local college. By becoming active in four chapters of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painting, I had the opportunity to begin attending seminars by nationally known teachers. The techniques I explored included oils (with Sue Sickel), pen and ink, rouged oils (with Mary Owens), batik painting (with Dee Cochran), watercolors (with Terry Madden), and acrylics (with Sandra Aubuchon), and grisaille (with Linda Coulter). In 1998, after becoming certified by Mary Owens in pen and ink - rouged oils, I began to offer workshops using her technique. In 1999, I became certified by Sandra Aubuchon and began to offer workshops using her acrylics patterns as well. I am currently working toward a teacher certification with Linda Coulter on the grisaille technique. I also teach my own original design patterns. After hHolding the office of President and presently Vice-President of the Miss-Lou Busy Brushes Tole Chapter has given me another wonderful opportunity to advance my skills. I am also a member of the Picayune Art Guild and Hattiesburg Art Guild. As a member of the art guild I have won awards and have sold paintings at their local art shows. I have been commissioned to create paintings for private homes in VA, NC, FL, MS, LA, TX, and ME. My classes and original patterns have been enjoyed by both beginners and experienced painters.
