To complete the skin surface over the wing, you add the trailing edge.
Because wing-skin is elastic, it tends to pull in when the wing is at rest.
It's more of an extremely thin muscle than just skin. Also, please notice
where the end of the trailing edge connects to the dragon. It connects
at or behind the hip (unless the dragon has a tail fan). I've seen plenty
of what I call 'Hang Butt' dragons, where the skin doesn't connect all
the way down the body. Without this connection or some kind of tail surface,
the rear end of the dragon, made especially heavy by powerful hind legs
and the tail, would just hang in the air. The dragon would have a heck
of a time getting speed or staying balanced, and he'd be precariously exposed
in a fight with a dragon who didn't suffer from 'Hang Butt Dragon Syndrome'.
:) Also,
be sure to draw a guideline along the contours of the dragon's body for
where the skin of the wing meets the body. This will help you when you
clean up the drawing and add color. |
