When did I wear this costume?
Anime Boston 2004, Saturday.
Why did I do this costume?
Well….. I don’t really know the answer to that. I think I thought the outfit was cool. Yes that was it, I THOUGHT the outfit was cool. However, I am not an Anime character, therefor it did not come out cool. It came out kinda stupid.
How did I do this costume?
With a sewing machine and fabric. Okay, well I used a simplicity pattern. Then I took in the sides Should have put in darts, but oh well, too late now. As for the yin-yang thing on my chest; that was all hand stitched. Getting the size right was a sort of trial and error process, bad part was: I didn’t have a lot of extra fabric. The gold decals on the bottom are also hand stitched on. The gold border was to big, but I accidentally cut the black to short, so I made the gold as thick as I thought I could get away with to try and make up for it. The stupid gold circles on the sides are cardboard. So that was annoying to. Which is why I put some string on the dress to help keep it closed. The buttons are more or less hot glue and gold fabric. The gold lining on the top is floral ribbon. Stupid floral ribbon.
The hair was simply covered with white circles, held in place with white elastic. Then wire in white fabric bobby-pinned in place, hidden by hair. It all stayed together with the help of hair spray.
The arm bands and shin bands was simply gold fabric with interfacing on it, with velcro to hold it together. I had a bit of problem with the arm bands (other than the fact that they kept slipping) there wasn’t enough fabric for them, so I had to use the floral ribbon as inserts to get enough length to them. I don’t think anyone noticed.
Then the shoes, would you believe Payless didn’t have regular black pumps? I had to buy these ugly black things with tan stitching and yucky bows on them. Tore off the bows, then used black shoe polish to cover up the tan stitching. Got black shoe polish on my feet, cause I polished them the night before the con.
Would I ever wear it again?
Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll NO! Any kind of wind and WHOOM! Up goes the skirt, and I’m flashing half the world. No thank you, I prefer to keep what little dignity I still posses. If my friend wore her Yohko costume ever again, I’d make a new one; one of Madoka from Episode 5.
What was your favorite aspect of the costume?
*thinks* Nothing is coming to mind.
What was your least favorite aspect of the costume?
The length of the slit! Dang it, I thought it would cover more, but nooooooo! Then introduce wind into the picture, holy moly was that bad!

Pictures are not coming, cause; well I really hated the ending product of this (at least compared to my friends. So I'll either a. redo it for the sake of redoing it (and believe me I DO do things simply for the sake of it) or b. Not do it at all and eventually just take this costume info down)
