The Artist

Cecelia La Pointe-Gorman was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She is a Native American woman from Swinomish and Chippewa decent.

Cecelia began drawing as a toddler. Her love for art continued to grow and she began to lean towards Native American Artwork. Cecelia's art is a representation of a people who inhabited the Pacific Northwest for thousands of years prior the white settlers decent upon the region.

Many of her paintings are inspired by the stories told to her by her late Grandfather, Martin J. Sampson. He was a remarkable leader of the Native people and one of Cecelia's greatest inspirations.

In examining Cecelia's paintings, it is plain to see her love for wildlife. Most of her paintings consist of wildlife from the Pacific Northwest region. This is a trend that is not new, the Native people integrated wildlife into their everyday lives and much of the art work from Cecelia's ancestors were inspired by wildlife as well.
