A BRIEF HISTORY OF CANDLES

Candles can be traced back as early as biblical times.  For many years they were the main source of light for peoples' homes. Many early Greek and Roman candles were made of flax thread coated with wax and pitch, while in other countries candles were made of palm oil, coconut oil, beeswax and olive oil. In England bayberry wax was refined for use in making candles. The earliest dipped candles were made of tallow. Not until the early 1800's was paraffin made to replace tallow as the main ingredient for candlemaking.  Electricity has replaced the candle as an important source of light, but the candle is still important today for its role in decoration on festive occasions, for the calm and sanctity it evokes in religious ceremonies, and for the general mood of warmth, relaxation, and even romance it creates in our homes.

Gel Candles

These candles are awesome.  You can burn these candles all day long.  This is a clear oil gel material that has a sparkle ‘bubble’ effect.  While burning, they appear luminescence, in their glass containers.  Very unique and pretty.  One of the most popular features  is that a gel candle burns 4 - 5 times longer than paraffin.

Approximate Burn Times

These will vary depending on many variables
such as wax type, additives, wick size &
type, fragrance, dye, etc.

I can make custom candles if you prefer.  I have numerous embeds (fish, doves, butterflies, etc) to put in candles. The size is up to you.  The cost of my candles range from $5.00 to $20.00 generally.  I have made large custom candles that range from $30.00 - $50.00.

I will make whatever you are comfortable with.  The turnaround time for a specific candle is 24 hours.

I do refills on the candles I sell.  Depending on the candle, it can range from $4.00 - $20.00.

If you need alterations or sewing done, I do that also.  I have made wedding gowns and three piece suits for men.  The cost for a project depends on what it is.  Slack alterations are $5.00 for hems per pair.  Alterations for a pair of slacks depends on what needs to be done.
