New Mexico is blessed with the presence of several painters who are able
to meld the fantastic landscapes of the area with the most advanced
forms of modernism. From the academic styles of Cezanne, Gaugin
and Picasso, these painters have leaped forward to a new level of
accomplishment, creating a unique form of painting that has earned New
Mexico world recognition as a mecca for fine art.
William A. Risbourg, III is one of
these painters. Like the 19th and early 20th century landscape
masters before him, Risbourg paints "plein air". He
