The
Ming Tomb
The located about 30 miles northwest of Beijing, the
tombs can be seen in about one hour. Unlike tombs in countries such as
Egypt, these are not elaborately decorated inside. The only tomb open to
the public is that of Emperor Wanli (reigned 1573-1620_AD)
Oianmen
Qianmen means "front gate," and the Qianmen
area is named for the front gate of the old walled city of Beijing,
which was left standing after the walls themselves were demolished.
