This lesson is going to teach you the fretboard, or at least, that is what I am aiming for.
This is a very very very important concept, you should make sure you know it well.
Okay, the fretboard is made up of notes. There are 7 notes in all. They are repeated all over the fretboard.
They are as follows(the '#' sign is read as 'sharp' and the 'b' is read as 'flat'): A A#/Bb B C C#/Db D D#/Eb E F F#/Gb G G#Ab
Notice how the 'B' and 'E' notes have no sharp. Also, notice that 'A#' and 'Bb' are the same note. Same as for 'C#' and 'Db' and so on. They are both the same note, you can call it either sharp or flat, whatever you are confortable with.
Now, lets apply this to the fretboard.
I will write the tablature of the sixth string and put what note it is underneath the tablature. You can then apply that to the other strings. I would encourage you to actually get your guitar out and figure out the notes for each string and look for the same tones on different strings, i will talk about that later on.
