We have all suffered a great tragedy.

We are shocked,
How could this happen to us?
We are the most powerful country on Earth!
This can't be real!

We feel helpless.
'All circuits are busy,' is the answer when we dial;
And cellular service in unavailable.

We have been raped
of our independence for a few hours;
And some have lost their loved ones or lives.

8:45 am evil unleashed.

We are angry!
How dare they attack the innocent?

We are afraid!
Will they try again?

A nameless enemy has declared war.
He has no face.
He doesn't play fair.
He follows no rules.

Only one is responsible.
But he has an army of many.
Only one would fight like coward,
And take the innocent by surprise.
And only One can fight him.

So what do we do?

We do the obvious.

We take care of the needs of the afflicted.
We give blood, time, our shoulders, and our tears.
Whatever is needed.

Then we resume our lives by giving thanks.

We will be thankful we are alive.
We will be thankful for our loved ones and our neighbors.

And we will show them.
We will embrace them, get to know them, and show them we care.

Only by standing together and giving thanks can we rebuild our lives, and rebuild our neighborhoods.

Together we shall stand.

Together we shall fight the unseen enemy.

For we are 'One Nation Under God',
And we will be thankful.
