Maysville, Kentucky: My Hometown

Maysville, Kentucky is a nice little small town nestled in the Ohio River Valley in eastern Kentucky. It has several claims to fame, as do many small towns. One of these claims is being named by Southern Living magazine as a top ten place to retire. Another claim is that we are the hometown to the famous jazz singer, Rosemary Clooney, and she gives a fundraising homecoming concert every September at the corner of Market and Third Streets.
A very recognizable claim is the Simon Kenton Memorial Bridge. It is recognizable because it was the prototype for the Golden Gate Bridge, opened in 1931 I believe.
Maysville is a beautiful town full of history and historic buildings. Two of our streets are original brick, and many of our buildings have been standing since "the flood." Please use this site to better understand what you read in my journal.
