Louise Brooks, a native Anguillian artist, has been interested in fine arts since primary school days. She attended the St. Kitts Teachers Training College where art was one of her favourite subjects. She later attended the M.I.C.O College in Jamaica where she did a two year course specializing in art and craft, obtaining a university diploma . She has also obtained an M.Ed. in advanced studies in Education at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Louise first taught art in the primary schools and is now teaching at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.

Louise considers herself more as an impressionist artist who sees are as a living beauty. Her paintings of the natural scenes around us reveal the calm and serene beauty of her island home. Louise works hard to bring out the natural beauty of the landscapes and seascapes of Anguilla in her work and has developed an undying love for the things of the past. This is reflected in the many natural and cultural scenes and traditional old houses that she finds so much joy in painting.

Louise works mainly in acrylic but has done some work in oil and water colour. She has taken part in many group exhibitions including the ANGUILLA INTERNATIONAL ART FESTIVAL – a biannual art competition staged in Anguilla. Louise showcases her work for sale at the local Art and Craft Center in The Valley, The Savannah Gallery and the Devonish Art Gallery. She can be contacted at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School in the Valley (tel# (264) 497-2416).
