It is woven on a stick in a spiral form. I saw one in IN a few years ago and I have never quite gotten out of my mind. It was beautiful and I do not remember who the artist was. Please help if you can. I read something by someone within the past month or so about removing the black walnut hulls and still being able to use both. Now I wish I had saved the article as I have someone who has several large trees and will let me have the nuts and would like the nut meat in exchange. I wouldn't have to as these people are friends and this didn't turn out to be a walnut year and I have several buckets stored. But it got me thinking about how the nut is wasted when I soak them for the dye. If someone can refer me to the article or wherever I read about how there was an easy way to get the hulls off of the black walnuts and still be able to have a good walnut to crack out, this would be great for the future for me. I use these things all the time. Thank You, Jayne L. Humphreys In chilly WV and with water in my yard and under my house. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Re: [weaverswords] "Weavers Words" V. 8 I. 21 Date: Mon, 20 Sep 2004 09:47:16 -0400 From: "Donna Dipzinski" To: weaverswords-owner@yahoogroups.com To Delores von Rosen-The Victorian handle is a product made by Homestyle Handle Co. It will take place July 9, 2005 - 8AM to 5PM. Individuals interested in teaching are encouraged to submit Teacher Proposal Forms. We are looking for a variety of 4 hour and 8 hour classes. The cost of the basket/project class should reflect the cost of materials, kit preparation, mold or tool rental, pattern and teacher's fee. We request one form, pattern and colored photograph (not a jpeg image) for each proposed basket/project. You may submit as many proposals as you would like and encourage you to submit at least one 8 hour class and two 4 hour classes. In review of the evaluation forms from 2004, participants showed an interest in having a greater variety of classes in 2005. In addition to the traditional reed baskets, they requested the following - Nantucket/shaker, gourd, pine needle, antler, other naturals and beading. You may visit last year's Internet site at: http://www.geocities.com/midsummerweave/ The deadline for submitting proposals is Saturday, November 6th. Baskets/projects will be reviewed and selected by the MSW committee by Monday, November 22th. Please email me for the Teacher's Proposal Form. Looking forward to receiving your submissions. I have so many new patterns I haven't been able to get onto my web site, but will have them all at the MI convention in October. If you are going to be there, please stop by our booth and say, "Hi". I have a customer who wants to find basket weaving classes or a guild for her cousins who live in Huntington, PA (East side of Pittsburgh) and New Castle, PA (just outside of Youngstown, OH) I though I would ask if anyone is close to these areas and knew of a contact person for them. Thanks and I hope to see many of you in MI next month!
