They use a copper rivet for their swings. I think you'll like them. You are appreciated! I have this reply for Claudia in Rhode Island, who was having trouble with the buttons on swing handles-this is a constant battle around our house! So far, my solution has been to order swing handles from Ada K's-as they are riveted with copper. I don't know what sizes they have available, but they are done very well, and you don't have the "popping buttons" problem at the worst possible times. I do ask for the riveted handles - I guess they might have the buttons as well - but the rivets stay put, and the basket holds up well. Hope This Helps... Sue Preuss. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Weavers Words - Milk Paint Sent: Sunday, August 01, 2004 8:49 PM From: "Alice Edwards" To: Dear David And Weavers, First a thank you to David, who makes it all possible. You are the best. I am generally just a lurker. But, thought of all of you as I caught up on things this weekend. Some time ago, there were questions about finding/using 'milk paint'. I don't remember by whom, and I had never heard of it, so details didn't stick. But, there it was in an article from the Wednesday Kansas City paper. Mention that it let wood 'breathe' and even a couple of recipes, as well as a name and website. I'm not going to run out and buy hydrated lime to make some right this minute, but will probably save the recipe. Though, I save so many I may never find it! However, if anyone is interested you should be able to go to kansascity.com and search for the article for at least the next few days. You will probably have to register, but that is free. I haven't been weaving much this summer, just in spurts. Need to get started working for a craft show in October. Too much family commitments and not enough time! Hope everyone is having a good summer. Baskets of best wishes from the KC area, Alice %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Basket Makers/Guilds In Florida Sent: Sunday, August 01, 2004 10:55 PM From: Catherin Cooper To: davidc@iei.net Am looking to find a group or guild of basket makers in the North east part of Florida. We are moving there for a short period of time and would like very much to touch bases with persons and/or groups interested in baskets and basketry: any information regarding baskets in the state of Florida would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, C. Cooper %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Baskets Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 9:15 AM From: EHBrandt101@aol.com To: davidc@iei.net Hello Weavers, Who has the pattern for plastic bag holder baskets?? Uses wood base with hole. Thanks, Nancy %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Claudia From RI Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 3:48 PM From: Shirley Hill To: 'davidc@iei.net' I have also had problems with the buttons popping off my swing handles and ended up drilling, sanding and scraping all the button stuff out and using knobs, screws, etc like a Nantucket basket handle. Looks prettier, but really not what I anticipated when I bought the swing handle!! Good luck. Three friends came to me with the buttons off. I got one replacement button from supplier but it didn't hold. I tried all kinds of glue. I replaced those baskets but I cant risk that again. Never had this trouble until a year ago. Also some handles were attached backwards. Ugly.
