Otherwise, I just sew a hem for the top. Fabric handles always go around the basket handles. Sew Velcro on the fabric and glue other piece to the basket base. If sewing is not your thing, just think of it as doing a single lash with a needle and thread. This is relatively quick. Easy to remove for cleaning with a few snips, and very secure. Commercial liners, like the ones made for Longerberger, have been interfaced with a heavy interfacing. To make these you cut a rectangle that is about 1" higher than the finished height of liner (l like to make mine just up to the inside rim.) and 2x as long as the inside circumference under the rim. Cut interfacing to match. Iron it on the wrong side. Cut 2 pieces of fabric 1" longer and 1" wider than your base. If your base is an oval cut the piece 1/2" bigger all around. You may want to interface this as well. Using 1/2" seam allowances, fold the long piece in half and sew one long edge. Turn right side out, and iron seam. Baste the long rectangle shut on the other long edge. Sew this long rectangle into a tube. Lay the two base pieces together wrong sides touching. and sew as a unit to the bottom edge of your tube. You can finish off your seams with a zigzag or bias tape or surger. The seams will be inside between the liner and the basket. Other liners I have seen count on the contents to hold them into the basket. The most popular has grommets and double drawstrings to close. Please contact me if you need more ideas and solutions. They all need more sewing experience. It looks really nice but is permanent. The only ones I have made so far have been more like a drawstring bag to fit inside a small backpack basket. My sister reports that it works well!! David, I am really glad to see WW's back. It has always been a great way to learn and share with other basket weavers!
