I can't thank you enough for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and experience in putting on this event. Our group meets the third Sat. of the month from 10am till 4pm at the Southside Senior Center, 2215 South Fremont, Springfield MO. For further info contact Pat Walden (417) 883-8970 after 6pm. Pat is our fearless leader and she would be happy to add a new weaver to our group. We usually have anywhere from 10-20 attending and we range from "never before" weavers to instructors. Hope this is helpful. It was a lovely basket. Just let your mind go and see what you create. There are many different sizes of waxed linen, and I think the 12 ply is close to # 3 or #4 round reed. Seven ply is approximately #2. I would think that where every you would use this particular size reed you could use the waxed linen. As for Judy Wilson, here is her website. http://www.judykwilson.com/title/Page_1x.html I was lucky enough to get a few of her kits at the conference. One I purchased and one I received as a gift. I have been working on the coiling kit and enjoying it. I find that I purchased so many kits and patterns at the conference that I am having a hard time staying focused on one kit. Too many things to do and too little time in the day to complete them all. It looks like an ingenious invention that would save me quite a bit of time and eliminate the frustration I seem to have scarfing rims. It is advertised as being able to make the "perfect rim taper". Does it really? I'd love to hear first hand experiences with it before I spend $69 on it. Thanks! Linda Rolfe Raleigh NC "I survived NCBA 2002. Wilson. Please include me in your subscription list so that I can receive WW, too. I use to see your Mom frequently as Margaret Harness' shop, Willowe's. She was one of my favorite people who came there...always so friendly and sweet. Please tell her I said Hello. Hope both of you are holding up health wise. There is a weaver who had a question for me on the last WW and I would like to answer her but don't know how other than on WW, itself. Her name was Nancy and she had seen my work in Fla a month ago. I am sending you a message; maybe you can copy and paste it onto WW for me as I haven't a clue as to how to answer. To Nancy... This is Judy K. Wilson and you were inquiring about the waxed thread that I use. I use Waxed linen, waxed polyester and waxed cotton and I have kits made out of all three as well as silk. You can go to my Website: http://www.judykwilson.com and you can find information there to contact me or contact me at: COILEDBASKETS@aol.com, either one. I have 4 or 5 new kits that are not yet on the Website but will be soon. Yes I do teach all over and will be glad to talk to you about coming to Maryland to teach your group. Please contact me either by E-mail or by phone at 770-479-2383. Sincerely, Judy K. Wilson. David, I do not mind if my phone number is posted on WW as it is available on Internet already. Thanks for your help, Sincerely, Judy K. I don't THINK so! Let somebody else tell you what awesome teachers Mary Smith-Stokes and BJ Crawford are, how wonderful it was to see Joanne Howard standing before me with a big smile on her face and a bag of yummy Kona coffee in her hand; how much fun it was to have a group photo taken with Joanne, Aunt Pattie Bagley and Patsy Jabaley; how great it was to see again Patti Hill, my paper basketry teacher at Arrowmont last fall; how nice it was to meet Anette Meier, who has been trying via e-mail (without success) to make a webmaster of me; and how unfortunate it was that the absence of enough hours in the day didn't permit any of us to spend more time together. But am I going to tell you all that and more? Heck no. Not me. No ma'am. I'm keeping MY big mouth shut! Best To All, Mary %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: How To Fill Rim Around Bushel Handle? Date: Fri, 29 Mar 2002 17:27:19 -0700 From: "Beth Jones" To: weaverswords-owner@yahoogroups.com Hi All, What a wonderful forum! I love this list. Now I have a question that I did not see answered in the archives. I've made a couple of baskets using bushel handles, but I'm not happy with the way the rim filler works out. There is such a huge gap between the rims as they go past the bushel handles. How do other folks work out the rim filler in that gap? For one basket, I used round reed as a filler, using 2 pieces within the loop of the handle, but they didn't really fill the gap completely. Any ideas for an intermediate weaver who has only made about 50 baskets so far? Thanks!!!
