I have exhausted all means known to find every basketry shop, museum, gallery etc. across the good old U.S.A. and Canada. There are over 125 basketry locales listed. Each locale will include all of the following information (if applicable): Locales Name Owner's Name Street Address City, State Zip Code Country Phone Number Fax Number Web Page Address E-Mail Address Hours Brief Description Of Locales Specialty I will send you a printout, which is 35 pages long & a copy of the original on a 3.5" diskette in Microsoft Word format. Sorry but Microsoft Word is the only format available. I will keep a list with everyone's e-mail address that purchases the companion. Then on the first day of each month I will e-mail you a new Microsoft Word file with any additions or corrections IF there are any. The cost of the printout and diskette is $15.00 shipped which includes free monthly updates. If you are interested, the preferred payment method is PayPal (Credit Card). This is the only way I can accept credit card payments. If you aren't familiar with PayPal, it's a method of sending money back and forth to one another. It's 100% safe and free and just for signing up you will get $5.00 deposited into your account, which means the Basket Companion will end up only costing you $10.00. PayPal is a very popular service used by most eBay sellers. As usual you made it easy for even The Ten Thumbs Weaver to understand, and that's no easy task. Kudos re: your reply to Lynn on the copyright issue. I also thought the reply couldn't have been intended to sound as harsh and snippy as it came across. One of the perils of e-mail I suppose. Now another question for one of the WW's great minds to answer - What In The World Is Oval-Oval Reed. I even checked a few of the mail order supplier's catalogs I've used and find no listing for such a critter! Ah the world of basket weaving- one is ALWAYS learning. Isn't it grand? P.S. Thanks so very much for all of you who were so kind to answer me so quickly regarding my search for Osma"s book which I now have in my 10 Thumbs and am avidly reading- What a Lady she was! Lori--RE: Basket stencils.....my mother does wood crafting, she recommended () that I use stamps, they are much easier to work with than the bulky stencils. I especially like to use a small star stamp for my Americana baskets, there is even white ink pads available for this. Had my baby-sitter and her sister come over to weave yesterday. The two girls did great work and plan to give the gifts to their mom, I told them to be sure to write "my first basket" on the bottoms. One did a double jelly jar/muffin basket and the other did a small cathead with space dyed reed. I always enjoy teaching kids a hobby, who knows maybe it'll be a future profession for them! Does anyone have a "favorite" basket they like to weave for gifts? Darla Fort Lee, Virginia My twins proclaimed it fall yesterday when they saw leaves in the grass. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Re: "Weavers Words" V. 4 I. 55 Date: Sun, 08 Oct 2000 17:28:27 -0500 From: kderrick@swbell.net To: David Collins References: 1 This is in response to Lori's request for Halloween stencils. I emailed directly to Lori, but then thought someone else might be looking for some, too. I found some last year but can't quite remember where...it was either JoAnn's, Michael's or Hobby Lobby, because those are the only places I think I've been! They are made by PLAID, are called "Simply Laser Stencils," and include a number of small stencils on a sheet about 5" X 5". There are bats, a cat, a ghost, three pumpkins, with separate jack-o-lantern face stencils, a spider, two phrases, "Happy Halloween" and "Trick or Treat," and last but not least, a row of candy corn. With the exception of the ghost, all would fit on a 1" stencil strip. The stock number is #28091. They are cute! One of our annual fundraising events is a Parade of Baskets. Sheri at Arnie's Arts and Crafts in Michigan suggested that you might post the following message for me. I would really appreciate this consideration -- and so would the many patients we serve. WEAVERS, HERE IS AN INVITATION TO PROMOTE YOUR WORK AND SUPPORT A WORTHY CAUSE AT THE SAME TIME. Marian Clinic, Topeka, Kansas, is looking for donations of original baskets to present for silent auction at its Parade of Baskets, an annual spring fundraiser. Donated baskets will be filled with a variety of gift items and placed for bid at local churches and community events. All proceeds from the event will benefit Clinic programs, which include medical, dental and obstetrical care for low-income uninsured families. Marian Clinic patients are people who cannot afford to obtain health care on their own. To learn more about us, you can visit guidestar.org and look up our entry by name, Marian Clinic. Contributions of baskets will be acknowledged by personal letter and, if you include the value of your items, a receipt for tax purposes. Your business card can be displayed with the basket. Our Parade of Baskets is a popular event and sparks much interest. It would be a lovely venue for your work. I will be happy to answer any questions or provide more details at (785) 233-9814 or carolynz@cjnetworks.com. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Subject: Gingham Patch Date: Fri, 13 Oct 2000 09:23:07 -0700 From: "Jennifer S" To: , Hi Laurie, I am Jennifer Scharman, I am the owner of the Gingham Patch in Bouckville, NY (about 15-20 minutes from Clinton.... south/west).
