Ravel: L'Enfant duet

With sunlit glances,
wild in our lifestream,
we swim higher than high,
our hearts wound
in the wind.

I worship our eternal spring
never dying in summer heat,
but in a dream,
the only refuge
for now of my eagled will,
for now of my ringing tears,
for now of my enflamed skin,

hackled by the Nameless fingering
at my left elbow.

The wolf finally found him in Satori's love, but he couldn't get him as long as he hid in true love, since he couldn't hurt true and kind lovers, as were Receiver and Satori, and he also couldn't steal from a shadow. So he finally stole the shadow itself along with her love which contained Receiver, and ran away with their shadow in his jaws. He continued to follow the twilight around the world, waiting for them to come out of the shadow and their love just once.

This caused Satori fear and pain, and also she didn't want Receiver to hide in her love forever. So she said he must go, but he asked what would let him return. And she said, "You must face down the Nameless."

With that she disappeared deep into the shadow and cried tears that fell on the world like a rain. So he stole away one brief moment when the wolf napped in the twilight.

It conceals
whether we face it down or flee--
the Nameless,
not seen by looking,
seen by not.

Despite our will and needs,
our lives ship on blood whipped waves,
drift in storms of feeling,
or overcast albatrossed calms,
traveling our wishes to their death.
