curled up in my chair
eyes closed against the lights
everything seems intensified
the hum of computers
the tangy sweet of orange soda
the silence of the night
the purring of my kitten
as she snuggles down to sleep
the blankness in my mind
manifested to its own new world
the missing piece that
should fill that void
disappeared somewhere - a new hiding place
i search my mind, my thoughts
trying to fit things there
but they all bend and fight
not fitting the mold, that shape
i open my eyes
the light suddenly blinding
grabbing the chain, i click it
back into darkness
the only light from the glowing computer screen
as a characters life unfolds from my fingers
and i put on hold the search
for that missing puzzle piece
