i dont want to come down from this cloud
but the silver lining's tearing
and its ripping apart beneath me
its melting away at the touch of the sun
unwanted light burning my eyes
and i hang on to the last little shreds of my cloud
before the ribbon gives way
and sends me tumbling back down to earth
my wings once again fail me
leaving flight not an option
so i fall
down to a cold, unforgiving earth
the ground rushes up to meet me
and i close my eyes against the wailing wind
and i pray that you might be there to catch me
to meet before i hit the pavement
soar up back to the clouds on your wings
when my broken ones serve no purpose
to repair the silver lining
that ripped beneath my grasp
and sent me down
when i didnt want to come down from this cloud
