The New Zealand Air Training Corps


...is the "Airforce branch" of the New Zealand Cadet Forces, and aims to teach it's Cadets avaition related subjects such as aircraft recognition, flying, and principals of flight. Being a military based organisation, Cadets are also taught Airforce drill, procedures, discipline and unit structure, as well as outdoor survival skills, leadership, tramping, citizenship, and a variety of other subjects, within a friendly, disciplined environment.

...comprise the Sea Cadet Corps, The New Zealand Cadet Corps, and the Air Training Corps. It is a voluntary, disciplined, uniformed training organisation, for boys and girls aged at least 13 years or attending secondary school. The organisation is not part of the NZ Defense Force, but controlled by the NZCF and is supported in partnership by the government through the NZDF and the community. Training programmes emphasize personal development. The organisation offers a quality nationally coordinated training programme which aims to:
  • foster a spirit of adventure and teamwork, and to develop those qualities of mind and body essential for good citizens and leaders
  • provide challenging and disciplined training activities which will be useful in either civilian or service life
  • promote an awareness of the Armed Forces and the role they play within the community
Success is measured by the number of Cadets who graduate from the NZCF training programmes having met predetermined criteria.
