America’s Educators

Education is the foundation for any human. Whether it is academics or Life’s hard lessons, every great man/woman has had some base stimuli from which to choose his/her actions. The people that are in a position to provide this stimuli (teachers, police officers, role models, etc.) are "America’s Educators." However, those just there to pick up their paycheck in pursuit of other interests have an adverse effect on the development of youth and on their ‘foundation’ from which they build their life.

I, merely another youth caught in the giant, confusing spokes of American Education, have experienced first-hand the inner-workings of a school system, the legal system, and even had extraordinary family and social matters from which to draw reason. This paper is for those who care and for those who don’t care; those who are Educators and those who are factory workers: this paper is for anyone whom understands and believes the concept of human perspective. Only a fool would try to cram centuries of the giant snowball known as government and education into a single paper and hope that it even remotely resembled ‘Truth’. We proceed.

I interviewed a very respected gentleman in the education field in hope that I could get a deeper look into the eyes of the school system. Combined with that, for my entire life I have dealt with teachers from all over the country: ones from Ohio, Illinois, Florida, and Wisconsin.

For the most part all of the teachers were the same, except for the cultural differences that existed in the separate regions. Odd habits, new ways of doing things - no different from your average student. Everyone has their own technique, their individualism, if you will, and teachers who don’t care never take that into account.

Humans need to stop hiding behind flaws in verbal communication. Though a teacher may grade tests and assign homework with all outward appearances of caring, about "half of the educators today don’t care." Isn’t it sad that about 50% of the people having a daily influence on today’s youth could care less whether their scripting a progress report or at home watching TV?

Teenagers are able to sense this, and knowing that your teacher is not out for your best interests is a real motivation-killer for thousands of kids in our country, especially the large majority of them that are struggling with problems at home. Educators that "don’t care" rarely stop to consider the extra stress and complexities events such as divorce, death in the family, illness, depression or even the extra burden of having only one parent can bring upon a student. But hey, it’s just a job and they’re just getting paid. Like flipping burgers, right?

Following good old fashion American business, educators in this country should be required to take a wider variety of teaching classes and should be offered more pay. Higher pay means more competition and more competition, as my good friend Darwin puts it, is key to the ‘survival of the fittest.’ With more applicants pouring in and more teaching experience necessary, finding a teacher whom ‘cares’ shouldn’t be such a problem.

There’s always the obvious solution, too. No matter how anyone might deceive himself or herself you have to face the truth. We’re all here, on one big planet, one species of mammal: how about we just grow up and start to care for our neighbors?
