Staff Sgt. Paulette Pea, 43rd Operations Group, takes time to study the Pope commissary closure information during the ATWIND kick-off at the newly renovated Pope Park June 8. The commissary is scheduled to close Oct. 1. Efforts are currently underway to fight the closing. The kick-off ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and included the official grand opening of the new Pope Park picnic/playground equipment. About 500 people attended the kick-off event, according to Sandy Boswell, 43rd Services Squadron services marketing director. The first 100 people to sign in on the ATWIND registration book received a free ATWIND prize. With people standing in line prior to 11 a.m., the prizes were distributed within 10 minutes of the event opening. For more information and photos of the ATWIND kick-off.
