H P * L O O K - A L I K E S !
Long-lost siblings of the HP characters...?

One of the fun perks of being obsessed with something is that you make all sorts of weird connections to it wherever you go. I've put up this little collection of folks from other book series, anime, manga, video games, movies, and tv shows that remind me somehow of HP charas in hopes that you'll get a good laugh out of seeing some HP chara clones too. Enjoy! ^^

Harry Potter

Sakuya Kira

Though little seen in Angel Sanctuary, Sakuya is the adorable little boy who died in a tragic car accident at age 7, and the Sakuya we see thenceforth is a powerful sword spirit that possesses his body. But little Sakuya befriends the lonely spirit and tries to teach him what it means to be human. Doesn't he look just like Harry? ^^

Cho Hakkai

Hakkai is one of the four heroes of Gensou Maden Saiyuki, a new manga based on the old Journey to the West Chinese novel. He is the calm, mature one of the team--and very powerful as well. One might project Harry to become the calm, collected sort of leader that Hakkai is someday... and Hakkai has the messy hair & green eyes too! ^^

Eriol

Sakura's mysterious classmate in the 2nd season of Card Captor Sakura, Eriol is not only polite and intelligent beyond his years--he's also got a lot of mysterious power like Harry. And they sure look alike.

Draco Malfoy

Dilandau Albatou

The maniacal commander of the elite Dragonslayers squad in the anime The Vision of Escaflowne. Cute and preppy as he seems, Dilandau's pretty looks mask a nastiness and flair for violence that make him a REAL villain. As far as personality goes, Dil is a bit snobby and very commanding, just like Draco. And... don't they look an awful lot alike? In my mind at least... ^^

Rufus Shinra

The young president of the gigantic and powerful Shinra Power Company from Final Fantasy VII, Rufus is not only a fashionable, snotty, preppy blonde like Draco--he also has very little regard for the average, non-wealthy person, and considers them as expendable pawns to help build his fortune. (very Malfoyish, ne?) Oh, and he does toss his pretty blonde hair every few minutes, the vain thing... ^^

No picture available (yet)

Ariel

The enchantingly angelic-looking little villain from Isobel Carmody's wonderful book series, Obernewtyn. Ariel and the series' heroine, Elspeth, strike a dislike for each other since they meet as children at a school for talented orphens-- much like Harry and Draco. Further, Ariel is smart, charasmatic, and rather cruel, and quickly wheedles his way to being favored by the adults in charge, who are charmed by his posh manners and pretty, blonde looks. ^^ Quite the Draco, ne?

Sirius Black

Sakuya Kira

The sexy, teenage swordsman, Sakuya Kira, from Angel Sanctuary steals every scene he's in--an instant heart-throb like Sirius. He also has those dark, handsome looks and dangerous edge that school mischief-maker Sirius has as well. Kira also spends his time protecting a teenage boy main-character-of-the series, and has a very dark, tragic past...

Bonus: this is a great pic of Kira & AS's main character, Setsuna... except Set looks unusually similar to Draco here! Sirius and Draco? Weird...

Laguna Loire

Final Fantasy VIII's wreckless, handsome, smooth-talking nice guy. Basically, I see Sirius as being this sort of guy back in his school days.

Dee Laytner

A smooth, smart-talking New York City cop from the manga FAKE, Dee is exactly the street-smart, confident, gorgeous adult that schoolboy Sirius Black would have grown up to be if he hadn't wound up in Azkaban. ;__; FAKE is a really fun, light-hearted manga/OVA (and shounen-ai, for you slash fans!) Even more fun... his policing partner, Ryo, is the perfect Remus...

Remus Lupin

Randy (Ryo) McLane

Ryo is the soft-spoken, intellectual half of the FAKE police super duo (the other half being Sirius-clone Dee). Ryo is *completely* Remus, from his gentle voice, impeccable manners, and tacit charisma. He is also often found engaging in very Remus-like behavior: enjoys drinking tea, staying in Saturday nights reading books, and being nice to everyone. ^^ Honestly, you'd just expect him to start sprouting fur on the full moon!

You know, I still don't know this poor guy's name. I saw him in some screen caps of Viggo Mortenson's movie, The Prophecy, and thought he looked like the perfect real-life Remus. The fact that he stars oppositve Viggo Mortenson (who I think would make a not-too-bad Sirius), adds to the effect. Look at this pic--could it not be the scene in the Shrieking Shack??

Albus Dumbledore

Ian McKellan (Gandalf the Gray)

You know, I had a LOT of problems with the HP movie adaptation of book 1... and it only made it worse when a month later, the BEST book-to-movie adaptation in the world was released. And while we may have settled for mediocre acting in the HP cast because we figured they looked the part, at least one of those actors is now busted. I thought Richard Harris was HORRIBLE as Dumbledore--and I could rant on and on about it, but let us suffice to say that Dumbledore should be a powerful and wise, but KIND and LOVABLE old wizard. In two words: Ian McKellan. In four words: Ian McKellan as Gandalf. THERE are the twinkling blue eyes, the kindly smile, the mischief, the power... THERE is the real Dumbledore. Woe to Chris Columbus and his casting director...

Minerva McGonagall

Quistis Trepe

A combat professor from Final Fantasy VIII, Quistis is not nearly as mature or composed as Professor McGonagall, but I find similarities in them such as their need to show an unemotional exterior, despite being caring people inside. Oh, and they are both professors with authoritive personalities. ^^ And, for some reason, I think Quistis ended up inspiring some of the hairstyle for my design of Professor McGonagall... hmm.

Cho Chang

Rinoa Heartilly

I don't know what it is about her... but Rinoa just strikes me as the perfect Cho. She's pretty, independent, and well-liked... which is pretty much what we can see of Cho since she isn't much in the books. Hmm... or maybe it's because I was reading The Prisoner of Azkaban while I was playing Final Fantasy VIII... who knows. ^^; Oh yeah, and both Rinoa and Cho are action-type girls--no sitting around at home waiting for their boys to come off the Quidditch field, ne?

Cedric Diggory

Setsuna Mudou

The young, naive (and terribly pretty) main character of Angel Sanctuary-- Setsuna Mudou. Although he's not as sweet and cuddly as Cedrick, Setsuna is a pretty boy and does look lost throughout a lot of the series... and that's Cedric for ya! ^__~

Viktor Krum

Heero Yuy

I guess it's pretty obvious from my own chara. design of Viktor that I draw a resemblance between him and Heero Yuy, the taciturn main character of Gundam Wing. Both guys are rather surly, and have a tousled look/feel about them, and they are both men of action. Both are also rather quiet (though not necessarily out of shyness), but still attract people to them. Oh, and they are the few intelligent men out there that appreciate and love strong, intelligent women. ^__~

The Dementors

The Nazgul (Ringwraiths)

All right, I know that the figure of a black-cloaked, hooded figure is the basic stuff of nightmares, but when I watched LotR: The Fellowship of the Rings, the Ringwraiths were EXACTLY the vision of terror that I had in mind for the Dementors. The warping aura of death, coldness, and silent danger that surrounded them is exactly how I picture Harry's swoon whenever Dementors come near him. Too bad they were in the LotR movie instead of HP. (ooh, another diss to Columbus and his crew...)
