Exceptionally beautiful Tepehuano piece -
Very finely made with unusual border pattern
VIBRANT!
This is what is known as Yarn Art. The threads of yarn used to make the "painting" are not sewn, but rather long strands of yarn are intricately placed with a small metal tool or other device onto a wooden board coated with a sticky substance such as beeswax. The precision this is done with is nothing less than astounding.
The following 8 pieces were created by a Huichol shaman/artist named Cecilio Carillo Bonilla. He puts a lot of detail in his work and is becoming very well known for his excellent sense of composition and color.
