Naked Goddess
(source of life)

< Previous----Next>

This "naked goddess" with the horns of a ram, was depicted on a scarab from Jericho. She is the source of life for plants and animals, such as antelopes and gazelles. These animals, being able to survive in the harsh, inhospitable environment of the dessert, were potent symbols of the forces of life. Their passion for survival could be seen in their agility, vitality and liveliness. Made from glazed red earthenware clay, the back of this limited edition piece displays the artist's signature stamp and the LQP chop mark. Left 2 1/8" high, right 1 5/8".
