Objectives

In this lesson, students will...

Student demonstrates the ability to create a Life-like lizard, use scoring, and slip, the ability to achieve variety in texture, and an understanding of underglaze, glaze, greenware, bisqueware, and firing procedures.

Process:

• Research and draw out lizard body design and pose
• Use scoring and slip to join pieces
• Create textures and detail
• Apply underglazes to greenware
• Apply Clear glaze after bisque firing
• Complete Journal Record sheet

Guidelines:

• Lizard must be between 6-9 inches long
• Lizard must have life-like quailty in head, body, tail, legs, toes.
• Lizard must have atleast 2 curves from head to tail
• Lizard must utilize a minimum of 5 underglaze colors
• Lizard must have YOUR initials carved in bottom

Deadline - 3 blocks

Critique - At the completion of the glaze firing, all of the lizardss will be displayed and students will be asked to select what they would consider the best. Each student will have to list their judging criteria and show how their top picks fit their criteria.
