Light Weapon Carriages, or Wheeled Mounts for Street Fighters.

        During the first half of the 20th century the Red army issued its medium and heavy machine guns on wheeled mountings.

        Although this idea has often been mocked, it is worth dusting off and examining again. For many modern infantry weapons a wheeled mounting will allow them greater mobility, particularly in urban terrain.
        Weapons that might be mounted in such a way include .50 Browning machine guns; Light or GP machineguns, possibly in multiple mountings; Mk-19 Grenade launchers; OCSWs; Mortars; Recoilless Rifles; AMRs and 30mm ASP cannon.
        The original Russian designs are worth looking at. Some had legs that could elevate the mounting to fire over cover, while others could be converted into anti-aircraft tripods.

        A modern mounting should be fitted with some form of ballistic shield for the crew. It would probably share some parts in common with the ATAC cart.
        It is possible that weapons of moderate recoil could be mounted on a carriage such as that used by the Home Guard "Smith Gun".
        Another use for such a wheeled mounting would be to mount a battery of rifle grenades, disposable grenade launchers or cup dischargers. The latter model would be a useful system for riot control. The Russians also issued a system that was comprised of three LPO-50 flamethrowers on a trolley.
