Menu: All Japanese. Selection of bento boxes, noodle dishes (ramen, soba and udon), curries, sushi, sashimi, donburi, tempura and a large choice of a la carte dishes.

Style: Japanese restaurant opened in May 2005 with minimalist decor. Chinese staff. Takeaways available at 20% discount on eat-in prices.

Budokan

Menu: Pan-Asian including Japanese, Malaysian, Thai and others. Japanese dishes include tempura, sushi, teriyaki, Japanese curry and side dishes. Rapid Refuel at lunch time and early evening offering 3 dishes from a selection of about 9 dishes at very modest price.

Style: Simple, canteen-style layout, friendly and attentive service. Wide range of food and prices.

Wagamama

Menu: All Japanese. Various ramen, soba and udon dishes plus Japanese curry and a few rice dishes.

Style: Canteen-style noodle bar with long tables, rapid turnover and fairly low prices, making it popular with students. Part of a chain of restaurants with many branches in London now expanding outside the capital.

Teohs

Menu: Pan-Asian including Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and Japanese. A small selection of Japanese dishes.

Style: Another canteen-style layout, similar to Budokan and Wagamama. Reasonably priced food. There is another branch of this restaurant at Lower Ashley Road in St Pauls.
