Washu is actually a goddess of the planet Jurai. She is arogant and yet a complex character. As well as a scientific genious, though sometimes her inventions are for the worst. There are some good ones, like Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki for example.

Twenty Thousand years ago Washu was married to another student at the Science Acedemy upon Jurai. She had everything she wanted, her husband and a son.

She takes the form of a twelve year-old because she saw how adults acted in very selfish ways and using social status. By taking the form of a pre-teen she now is more of a self-centered brat. However she has less responsiblities and much more time to work on her inventions.
