Here's revision 2 of the (Windows) browser. I've added a few things to it, but it still has a thing or two I need to work on.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Your monitor's resolution should be set at least to 1024 x 768 to be able to see the whole browser.
Also, you need to have Internet Explorer on your system for it to work.

Please read this page before downloading.

The Browser Window:

Circled in Red above:

1. > The 'Favorites' area. If you RIGHT CLICK on these the 'Edit Favorites' screen (shown below) will open.

2. > Page Load Status Bar. This normally works. :)

3. > When you mouse over the favorites, the URL that they point at shows up here. If it's exceptionally long it won't all show.

4. > Clicking the X clears the URL text box. Just a handy way to do it when you want to type in a new URL.

There's still no way to maximize the screen, but I've made the browsing window large enough to view most web pages without
too much side scrolling. This is a limitation in Director programs. There are ways to change the user's screen resolution,
but I'd rather not do that..

Also note I've actually added an 'Exit' button! If you click it you'll see a 5 second screen that shows the macromedia logo and how to contact me.

One thing I HAVEN'T fixed... if you click a link that opens a new window, it will open in Internet Explorer.
I'm not sure how to handle this using Director, but I'm working on it. Any Lingo programmers have a solution?

The Edit Favorites Screen

If you RIGHT CLICK any of the favorites in the browsing window this window opens.

Just type in the name of the new favorite, and hit ENTER or click Ok. Cancel will leave everything as it was.

PLEASE NOTE: First, browse to the site that you want the 'Favorite' to point to THEN right click the 'Favorite'
you want to change! Otherwise your 'new' favorite will just point to whatever site you were at when you right clicked
the button. I've limited how many characters can be input to keep the text from spilling out of the favorites bar. This
can still happen though it you type several capital letters. If the text spills out, just rename the favorite something a little shorter.

The character in the Change Favorites panel isn't me! It's a model I created in LightWave, and put hair on with
Shave and a Haircut by Joe Alter. (both excellent programs IMO).

The favorites are stored in a small .txt file on your hard drive. If it gets deleted the program should revert to its
original favorites and re write the file. It's only about 1k or so.

Please remember that I've only created this browser for fun. It's my tribute to a program I really like. Best of all it's FREE.
If you enjoy it, write me and let me know! If you hate it, simply delete it! :)

Installing the program:

Create a folder called "lbrowser" or something similar and unzip all files to it. Run the lwbrowse.exe program.

Last but not least, I think this browser would be great for kids too. It's limited enough not to be too confusing. Let them give it a try!

Enough! Download the zipped file by clicking HERE. Enjoy.
