Rules to Play

The following are rules one must follow to join the campaign of Fate Weavers.  Unless all rules are followed, joining is not permissible.

1.  Characters can only be created using Method III (3d6, arrange as you like) of the 2E Player's Handbook, unless the DM gives special permission otherwise.  Once a character is rolled up, the player is to send to me the character's complete bio:  appearance, personality, and history.  A player cannot enter the game until this is done.

2.  No imported characters!  All characters must be rolled up in front of the DM and approved by him.

3.  All players are expected to show when the game starts.  If you are too tardy or tardy often, we'll just go on without you.

4.  This game is meant to be a long-term commitment.  If you cannot commit to it, it's probably best you don't sign up at all.

5.  As the DM, I call the shots.  It's my game, my world, my campaign.  My say is final.  If you feel I've made a mistake or done an injustice, you may come see me about it before or after a game, but not during it.  I try and listen to any input my players give, and try to make them all feel included and treated fairly.  If you think I'm not living up to that promise, let me know over IM or PM.

6.  All players must sign up at the forums.  Downloading AIM or YIM  isn't essential, but will make things easier.  You'll also need to download OpenRPG in order to participate.

7.  If you have to drop the game for any reason, please say something.  Don't just stop showing up.  It's very rude.

8.  To sign up you can either email me (JadedDM@netscape.net) or you can ask on the forums either with a PM.

9.  This is a roleplaying game, and as such, I have some rather high standards on how it's run.  This is not, I repeat, not a series of random dungeon hacks strung together.  My games tend to have deep, complex storylines.  I expect players in my game to create detailed and dynamic characters who develop as the game progresses.  Anyone looking for a Monty Haul powergame can keep looking--there a
re plenty of those out there.  Those who are only interesting in killing things and collecting treasure need not apply.  If, however, you are interested in roleplaying, character development, and interaction with both PCs and NPCs, then we might have a place for you here.

10.  Anyone who engages in detrimental behavior which damages the fun of the other players will be banned.

11.  Leave your problems and your baggage at the door.  If you have a problem with me personally or any of my players, do not let it seep into the game.  Either learn to deal with it, attempt to rectify it, or just leave.

House Rules

1.  I don't use level limits.  PCs of any race can reach any level without exception.

2.  If a character dies (permanently) or retires, the new character replacing them begins at 1/2 the XP as their predecessor.

3.  Class restrictions are much more lax (see the Races section for more details).

4.  There are a few variations on racial ability adjustments (see the Races section for more details).

5.  Cantrips is a NWP and not a spell.

6.  Find Familiar is a class ability for wizards and not a spell.

7.  Fate Points.  (See the Forums for more details).

8.  Proficiencies require training.  It takes 1d4+1 weeks of training to learn a new skill.

Character Creation

When a character is created, the first step is the player in question meets with the DM online to roll up ability scores, choose proficiencies, and otherwise work out their stats and mechanics.  Once that is completed, the player is then required to write up a character bio and submit it by posting it in their sub-forum.  The bio must include Appearance, Personality and History.  The DM then goes over the bio. If it's lacking in someway, it will be rejected and the Player must re-submit it. Suggestions may be included.

The more experience a player has gaming with me, the more that is expect from them. A newbie can get away with writing less than the party veteran.

Things a bio may be rejected for:
1) If it's incomplete (missing one of the three essentials listed above).
2) If it contains information that is not canon to the world, or  would be inappropriate for the world.
3) If it is lacking in description.
4) If the character is too irrelevant to the campaign.

Also, note that the higher the character's experience level, the more history there is to cover.

If a player has not had their bio accepted by the next session, they will not be able to play that day.

Regarding player created content; players can make up information pertaining to my world so long as it is relatively minor and doesn't contradict what's all ready been established, in regards to their bios.  For instance, if a Player wants to make up some tiny village that isn't on the map that his character was born in; he can. And even go as far as to establish what the village was like.  If they are from a region that's lacking in detail, they can flesh it out. If the player goes too far, the DM will let them know, so it's no big deal.  However, that's for character creation. A player should not spontaneously make up information during the game without first asking.
