Runway extension 800 feet to runway 2-20

Runway 2-20 is currently 4,501 feet long. The plan is to extend the runway by 800 feet and make it 150 feet wider. The purpose of the extension is to allow for safer takeoffs and landing of larger aircraft. The extension will be towards the south, but there is a highway blocking any further expansion. The maximum distance before it interferes with the highway is 800 feet. Along with the runway, the taxiway will also receive an expansion of 1,100 feet long and 50 feet wide. The formula for the pavement will consist of re-compacting 6 inches of sub-grade and placing 8 inches of aggregate sub-base course, 10 inches of aggregate base course, and 4 inches of bituminous surface course. The existing threshold will have to be stripped and moved onto the new south extension of the runway. Additional signs and lights will be needed as well.
