SAWA 2004 RESULTS

2004 SOUTHEASTERN ARIZONA WOMEN’S AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

October 2 and 3, 2004 found Sierra Vista filled with women golfers from around the state and the state of Georgia vying for the title of SAWA Champion. Over the two days sixty-seven ladies played a combined 36 holes of stroke play at Fort Huachuca’s Mountain View Golf Course and Pueblo del Sol Country Club.

The Overall Low Gross Champion, Tui Selvaratnum of Tempe, swept the field with a SAWA best of 138 having

a par round at Mountain View on Saturday and a brilliant women’s course breaking record of 66 at Pueblo del Sol Country Club on Sunday. Tui, who averages under par rounds, is one of Arizona’s young new golfing stars. She has held the title of Arizona Women’s Golf Association Player of the Year for three straight years and holds almost all the state championship titles. Her most recent 2004 accomplishment is being a semi-finalist at the U.S. Women’s Mid Amateur Championship in Knoxville, Tenn. Winning the SAWA title will add to her points towards winning the AWGA player of the year award again for this coming year.

The Overall Low Net Champion, Julia Bryan of Sierra Vista, is one of our own local players from Huachuca Women’s Golf Association . Julie has been HWGA’s club champion several times and is one of the low handicap golfers in our area. Her net 72 at Mountain View and net 69 at Pueblo del Sol for a total of 141 bested the other 66 players hoping to bring home the crystal trophy this year.
