William Robert Long


A memorial service for William R. Long,
36, of Harbor was held Tuesday, Feb. 8,
in Grace Bible Church in Brookings.
The Rev. Wil Winter presided.
Cremation was planned.
Mr. Long was found dead of a self-inflicted
gunshot wound Thursday morning, Feb. 3,
in the cab-over camper shell of a pickup
truck parked in the Tall Fir Recreation
Vehicle Park in Harbor.
It was erroneously reported last week
that he had been found on the parking lot
of a Harbor tavern.
Mr. Long had been a crewman on the commercial fishing
boat "Rogue" from the port of Brookings. Previously he was a
crewman aboard the "High Roller", which
sank Jan. 15 several miles north of Brookings.
He had been a Brookings resident for approximately three years.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Sandra; a son, William
a daughter, Patricia, all of Buckley; his
parents, Russell and Bertha Long of Maynard, Ark.;
three sisters, Martha West of Cameron, Ill., Charlene
West of Kirkwood, Ill., and Darlene Long of Arkansas;
two brothers James "JR" Long of St. Louis, MO.;
and Bennie Long of Arkansas.
Arrangements were by Litty Funeral Directors, INC. of Brookings.
