Insurance Information:
Insurance: To Buy or Not to Buy?
Our advice about purchasing insurance is summed up in your personal comfort level. You should feel comfortable sending your student on a trip of this nature. If you are more comfortable with insurance, then purchase it. If you are comfortable without the insurance, that is okay, too.
See page 13 of the Application Booklet and visit www.eftours.com
These two sources will provide a great deal of information regarding decisions to be made about insurance.
Medical/Accident Insurance
We always encourage parents to check out their personal insurance policies first. Many policies cover overseas, while others cover nothing outside the U.S. If you or your student has a chronic condition such as diabetes or asthma, then we recommend purchasing medical insurance (unless your personal insurance covers overseas, and you will need to check this with your provider). This gives you peace of mind AND comprehensively covers any possible medical situation.
Tour Cancellation/Interruption Insurance
This insurance is designed to avert any loss of money invested in your trip due to circumstances which occur right before departure (see payment schedule on pages 12-13 of the Application Booklet). For example, if you or your student suffered a broken leg two days before the trip, you stand to lose some of your money unless you had this insurance. Another example would be if you were transferred or laid off from your job right before departure. Again, this insurance would guarantee the return of your money (as always, excluding the $95.00 registration fee).
Baggage/Property Insurance
This insurance is the least needed of all. The airlines will cover the basics (usually around $300-600). Additionally, we strongly discourage anyone taking very expensive items with them on the trip. For example, do not take expensive jewelry with you. Do not put cameras or other expensive electronic devices in your checked baggage. Keep those kinds of valuables on your person at all times.
All inclusive Insurance
These insurance policies are kind of like a value meal at McDonald's. Purchasing one of them costs about half of what it would cost to buy them all. The price for all of the insurance is $95.00.
If you have any further questions about insurance, do not
hesitate to call or email.
