From homeless to business owner and supermodel

The dress that started it all.
Marley was picked up as a stray in February 2001. She was bailed out of the animal shelter by Pug Rescue of Sacramento, named Marley (after Bob Marley, of reggae fame) and was placed in a loving foster home for two months recovering from illness induced by her harrowing ordeal. After that she was adopted to her loving permanent home.

Marley soon noticed that dog clothing simply did not fit the pug physique. And she tired of friends and family trying to buy the clothes right off her back when she was out and about.

Thus, the House of Marley Canine Couture line of Extraordinary Apparel for the Fashionable Pug™ was born!

A savvy businesswoman, Marley opts to use eBay exclusively to sell her clothing, and she makes items available for sale once a week on Saturdays.

In January of the year following her ordeal, Marley and her boon companion, Boomer, were at a charity benefit for the Spokane Humane Society. Marley was wearing her own design, a Carmen Miranda Mexican-style dress, with a fruit filled hat, and her stunning outfit got her noticed by a cameraman. She was asked to appear on the local news that very evening and of course she graciously complied!

The following month, the pair were out and about the town and were spotted by a photographer for the Press.

The very next day, Marley graced the front page of the newspaper paper in full color, wearing her House of Marley hooded jacket!

A supermodel was born.

Today, House of Marley is a family affair -- Marley employs her mother as seamstress, chauffeur, cook, eBayer and poop scooper while she supervises all the work from beneath the east window in her dog bed topped with a custom-made quilt. Boomer participates by modeling the Marley for Men line of clothing for pug gentlemen.

Marley has not forgotten her roots.
Each year she donates a portion of her profits to recognized pug rescues around the United States.
