I just entered a search into Ancestry.com and got two pages of hits on
"Tabitha Alford," nearly all of which were the Tabitha Alford who married
Robert White.

Compiling these submissions, it is believed that Robert White was born in
Little River, NC on 2nd day 11th month of the year 1674 (Quaker calendar).
Another submission has his birthdate as 2 Jan 1674/1675.*  Tabitha Alford
and Robert White were married 2 July 1702 in Pasquotank Pct, NC.  (The
source for this was William Wade Hinshaw's "Encyclopedia of American Quaker
Genealogy, Volume 1: North Carolina," p. 172.)  Further, their children are
listed as Jonathan White, Zapaniah White, Joseph White, Ann White and
Elizabeth White (no dates).

*Quaker calendar--different from others--did not use pagan month names.
January would have been their 11th month in their year 1674.  By others'
reckoning, would have been January 1675.  Thus the dual notation for the
year.

Robert and Tabitha's son Jonathan White (md. Sarah) is listed as having a
daughter Tabitha White who married Edward Connaway Adcock 4 July 1780 in
Granville County, NC.  Jonathan and Sarah are also listed in another
submisssion with children Jonathan Jr., Burgess, William and Philemon.

However, there is a conflicting submission which indicates that Robert and
Tabitha's son Jonathan White married ANN PIKE on 10 April 1729 in
Pasquotank, NC.  Their children: Samuel White b. 17 Jan 1734/1735; Joseph
White b. 17 Jan 1734/1735; and John White b. 3 Apr 1737, all in Pasquotank
Pct, NC.  (Again the source for the submission is Hinshaw's "Encyclopedia of
American Quaker Genealogy."

Looks like there needs to be more original research done on what appears to
be two different Jonathan White families to determine which is the correct
ancestral line that married into the Jester family.

have found about John white's parents. There was a gedcom on ancestry. com
which contained info on Robert White and Tabitha Alford. m. 1702. it was
uploaded ny Annette Scanlone. And I probably mispelled her name.
>
> Annette has Robert and Tabitha as the parents of John who was the father
of Burgess. this sounds good to me, but I want to look at more research on
this. Email me and I will send you the gedcom. I think Annete removed it. I
couldn't find it again. Annette has Tabitha connected to the Alfords of
Union Co who also married into the Jesters. I have emailed the American
Alford Family Association for more info on her, but Gil didn't have
anything.
>
> This is extremely interesting, simply because of the name of Tabitha. I
can't remember if Rodney's or Greg's gedcoms has a Bytha, but I came across
that name in my own file the other day. My own aunt Tabitha Jester Scott was
called Bitha, named for her aunt Tabitha, who m. Christefer Alford!
>
> Also, from Rodneys gedcom, I think our Burgess White had a sister or
daughter named Tabitha. So if this is a handed down name, I think we need to
look at this data.
>
> Also, for the Teagues in us, I think we have connected William Teague of
1850 Union Co Ar. b. 1782 NC m. Frances to Edward the Emigrant. James H.
Jester, John Anderson and Grover Smither have uploaded my Teague data from
William down. I have been dowloading gedcoms and Teague Research Center info
about any info I can gather, along with several other Teague cousins, also
doing research. A Lofton did marrying to Teague line, and she was a sister
to the Lofton Ancestor of John, who m. Sarah Jester, dau of Levi and
Roseannah. A few years ago I was sent a pedigree of the Lofton's and had
this wild crazy thought about Edward.
>
> Since these lines do pertain to Jester, I'm not too far off topic, but
please email me privately about this. If it does pertain directly to the
jesters, then we can bring it back to the list.
