Psalm 27:1 KJV
“The Lord is my light and my salvation’ whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Jordan joined our family at just a few days old. We traveled out of state to pick him up, his ‘story’ is one of the longest in my book, and for good reason, spiritual battles over this child were huge!

Often as adoptive parents we do not have privilege to much information pertaining to the months before our children’s birth. Though I know little of Jordan’s story, I do know that on more than one occasion his birth mother had considered abortion. Thankfully and with much praise to our Lord Jesus, she was never able to go through with the process, and as time progressed became more convicted that she was to make an adoption plan for her baby.

God used the television, a crisis pregnancy center and a very godly lady to join Jordan to our forever family. The first time we saw him was in a hospital nursery. Expecting a bi-racial child with dark complexion we were quite surprised to see a very fair skinned baby boy with a head full of dark hair. Of course we thought he was beautiful!

From the beginning I have felt that God would have a ministry call for Jordan. The battles were so tough over him while in the womb and even after his arrival in our family. Somehow the enemy knows to fight harder for those with gifts and talents that will no doubt be used to build the kingdom of God. While he is yet to young to have clarity on what God will ask him to do, he is a prayerful young man, very tuned into God and a fervent Bible reader.

Jordan is a tremendous help with the younger children and has a servant’s heart. As I watch this young man grow up in our busy household in a middle sort of child position (if there is such a position in such a large family) I know for certain that God has placed Jordan here to learn many important lessons that will serve him well as he journeys into young adulthood and the purpose and plan God has for him.

Jordan is learning patience, perseverance and much about waiting upon God. He will be a great judge, having learned to ‘hear’ both sides of a story and decide the outcome of the offence.

Having older siblings he can learn from their mistakes, having younger siblings he can learn all about relationships and diplomacy dynamics that work in a large group of people. He is learning about parenting, organizing a large household, and most of all about giving and sharing, qualities that we all need as adults.

We are proud of Jordan and the efforts he is making in his home school high school endeavors and in the major accomplishments he has made over the years in his AWANA participation. Jordan enjoys reading, history, Bible study, video games and especially fellowshipping with other Christians—in fact there is little that Jordan does not enjoy being a participant in! We watch with great anticipation as Jordan matures and becomes a ‘courageous’ defender of the faith just as his God-inspired name implies.
