The internet has many facets, chat rooms represent an opportunity to expand your knowledge of people by giving you the opportunity to meet and talk with individuals around the world. I must give credit to excite.com virtualplaces, because when I first became interested in the internet my daughter had me sign up with excite and become a part of the virtual places community. This community of individuals opened up the internet for me. I had many people help me, I was taught to make webpages and to learn to use the computer much more efficently. Even my typing and spelling improved as a result of talking online.
Although excite is my favorite there are many more, I will develop this list for you and offer as many alternatives as possible. Again I encourage you to email me with site suggestions and useful links to include on this page.
VIRTUAL PLACES SOFTWARE, is actually a browser of a very specific type. This browser allows you to interact with up to 20 individuals at one time. Excite provides a number of 'offical' pages where people meet. However every single page on the internet can be used as a chat room. In addition to communicating with each other, you can send and recieve files.
VP Goodies, this site is specifically for you who wish to create sites which use the "virtual Places" client server. Vp is Excite and AOL chat server. You will find links for many programs and script librarys. virtualplaces software have many different builds/versions/updates myself I like one of the older ones build 145, but all the newer ones are patched against hacking and other problems.
Excite chat is an excellent place to begin your study of www pagemaking, because of the interactiveness you can chat with people who make sites for the fun of it. Most of these people will be glad to help you - this was a very useful thing for me when I first began to make pages.
INGS AVATARS AND GESTURE LINKS, when you participate in 'Excite Chat' you identify your self with an avatar and use 'gestures'- Gestures are small antimations with audio - using the vp client you can view these - Avatars are the gif images you use as your picture on the chat pane. (you can use your own photo if you want) -
