Trinity Lutheran Church

Trinity Lutheran Church has had a long in history in the Pine Bluff community.   Since its organization on September 24, 1894 Trinity Lutheran has occupied three different buildings and at three different sites.

Its first location was at East Sixth Street and Florida.   It had 9 charter members and 31 communicant members.  While many Lutheran Churches used only German, Trinity used both German and English for its services.  English became the only language used since 1918.

The church went through a period of growth and expansion.  A new church building was dedicated on September 24, 1939 at 15th and Pine.   The following year a parsonage was built north of the church.  Neighbor to Neighbor now is utilizing the building at this site.

The congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1944.  It was at this time that Trinity started operating a Christian Day School.   A school was built at 14th and Pine and dedicated on March 27, 1949.  The school was in operation until 1969.

The present church building was dedicated on August 24, 1975 at 4200 Old Warren Road. The following years saw the addition of an education wing and stained glass windows in memory of Cpl. George N. Holmes, Jr., who gave his life in an attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran in April, 1980.

Trinity Lutheran is a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod .
