So...you want more information? Ok, here's a little more info on our family ghost, Tillymae:
As the legend goes..... as handed down to me through my father, Tillymae was a young woman of color, around the age of 19 years old. A great fire struck our small town, which destroyed the servants quarters behind the main house where our family lived generations ago. Thus, Tillymae lost her life in this fire. As she was the caretaker of the children for the family, her spirit apparently has chosen to remain to watch over all the children of this family.
All throughout my life, no matter where I chose to live, Tillymae has followed me. When I married, she moved with me, as I am the youngest in the family, and the only child of our family name to remain in our small town. When fire struck my first home (as a married woman), she moved along with me again to my next residence. And, when we moved again, she repeatedly followed us to where we are today. It seemed that nothing could keep her from her diligence of watching over those she had chosen to protect.
Yes, I have attempted to have her spirit removed, and on more than one occasion, I have personally confronted her as to why she didn't "move on" and "go into the light". None of these attempts made any impact on her! The only thing I can guess is that she has chosen her title of perpetual care-giver, and she evidently intends on doing so for many generations to come. Therefore, I one day will relinquish my attachment to her, as I have two children of my own. Eventually, Tillymae will establish herself with one of my children...most likely the one who chooses to remain in our hometown. And, I'm sure, if they both move off to make a living somewhere else, our dear Tillymae will still be here with me...protecting me and my loved ones has she has for so many years. Yet, I'm sure, that when my time comes to join my ancestors, she will choose one of my children to remain with...and her quest to guard our family will continue for many, many generations to come!!!
