Wicca's Basics

Welcome to Wicca's basics. Despite what you may have heard, Wiccans are not Devil worshippers. Wicca is a nature-oriented religion which teaches to love the earth and accept people for who they are. Yes, many of us do do spells, but there is nothing supernatural about it. As a matter of fact, spell-casting is a very natural form of using the energy found in all things, most people have just lost touch with this ability through years of suppression. If we study and learn what our ancestors knew, we also can tap into the hidden energies inside of all things, living and nonliving.
Everything has an energy about it. They can be positive or negative, depending on their past associations, that is why we make sure everything is purified and blessed before we use them. Wiccans believe in a Goddess and God. We believe that all gods and goddesses are the same. They are just different facets of the same beign. So the next time someone says a Wiccan doesn't worship God, just remember, all are one. We may not call Him by the same name, but different people believe different things. That's what makes this world as great as it is. We also respect and love animals, trees, and enjoy working with and helping them as well as other people. We aren't out to convert anyone, all we want is for you to know who we really are.

I try to be open about my religion and who I am and understand the problems that can arise as a result of that. If anyone has a question or needs someone to talk to, feel free to e-mail me and I will be more than happy to help you if I can. I know how hard it can be, especially if you're a solitary. I can help you get in touch with like-minded people in your area as well. Don't ever forget how proud you should be to be a part of such a respectful religion. Blessed be!
