Before..... You've seen this one before, but we didn't want you to forget it when you see the next picture on this page! This shot, to us, only seems like yesterday! Covering the roof with plastic in case it rains at night, getting the rafters to tie in "just right" to the existing roof, and getting everything LEVEL when nothing else is!! But that's what repair and remodeling is all about! But look below at the difference, or what we call "the light at the end of the tunnel!" bluem3d2.gif

.....After, all wrapped up before the snow! It's amazing how fast things progress, once you have a solid foundation! (Also true in so many other aspects of life!) We were able to complete the roof, finish the sheeting on the gable, and wrap the structure before any rain! Thank you, Lord! We didn't take any pictures of our progress for a little while. Since then, we've installed the exterior door and two out of the three windows that will go into this room.

Corner windows will let in the light! This room was originally about 7 feet wide (away from the house, that is). We rebuilt it at 10 feet wide to accomidate an improved stairwell (to gain some much needed headroom) and, as a bonus, to make the room more useful. It has become clear that our existing kitchen (with only about 6 feet of counter space,... REALLY!!) would fit into this space nicely, with some significant added counter space! And so plans, although long-term, are now in the works to eventually relocate the kitchen to this new and expanded area!

The scope of the 'backyard' project So, here it is.... The far right corner of the building has been raised, repaired, rebuilt, and wrapped! Still waiting on 2 windows to be delivered to finish up that side. They'll get installed on either side of that big oak tree. There's still one more window to install to the left of the back door. And just in case you're wondering, the white pipe coming out of the ground, in front of the small window, is the vent stack for the 10x10 underground cellar we affectionately call "the crypt."

The re-built addition, almost done Not much of a picture, granted, but still another view. The small building to the far right is our well house, or what's left of it. It gets rebuilt in the spring, ASAP. The metal pole between it and the house is the corner pole of the old well pump windmill. The windmill is long gone now, replaced by a TV antenna. It can be climbed for a really great view of the surrounding area, although few that visit (or live here) want to attempt this!
