1 NOTE Diane Smith, descendant of Samuel Hosea Mullings, has researched the
2 CONC Charlotte County, Virginia records and found the death of James
2 CONC Mullings.  He was also named in the Will of Owen Sullivant.  Taking
2 CONC all the data collectively, land records, wills, orphan court records
2 CONC she has been able to tie Stephen to James and Mary.

2 CONT Another Mullings, John, died about the same time as James.  Diane has
2 CONC a copy of his will and other records pertaining to him and she
2 CONC believes he is the brother of James.  The only thing to connect
2 CONC William Mullings to James and John is the will of William who mentions
2 CONC two sons, James and John, among other children, and his wife
2 CONC Catherine.

2 CONT Diane does not have any documentation showing Catherine's maiden name
2 CONC as Smith or Smythe. Diane says that John used the same naming pattern
2 CONC of his children as James did, though James did not live long enough to
2 CONC have many children.  She has Stephen, James and Mary as being the
2 CONC children of James.  Mary was still young when her father, James died,
2 CONC and the younger James was named as her guardian.  Diane says she
2 CONC married David May.  Also, Mary Sullivant Mullings, married a Skelton.

2 CONT James Mullins is shown on the Tithe list, page 219, for Cornwall
2 CONC Parish on the list of Thomas Bedford.  He is shown with one  tithe.

3 CONC Cornwall and James Mullings of same.  135 pounds was paid for 130
3 CONC acres.  This property was bounded by the property lines of Abner May,
3 CONC William Mullins, John Mullins, Thomas Redman, Paul Cunningham and
3 CONC Dudley Brook, reserving to Mary Mullins, widow of James Mullings, 100
3 CONC acres of said land during her life and devised to her by the Will the
3 CONC said Own Sullivant, dec'd the 100 acres devised to her and James, her
3 CONC husband, being part of the 130 acres hereby intended to be conveyed.
