the mass production series manifesto

http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/michaelmills/manife1.gif

this series of works is designed as a revolution in the modern day, fine art print world. printmaking as an art form was developed as an inexpensive way to bring artistic images to those who could not own paintings or sculptures. commercial applications took over the printmaking world and attempted to destroy it as an art form. fine art prints were originally produced cheaply in hopes that anyone could afford to own a piece of art. editions became fashionalble in the print world - this was the first stage of it’s compromise and destruction.hand pulled prints are now as scarce as are learned fine art printers. fine art prints are now inaccessible to the average person. Prints are now as elitist as paintings and sculptures. prints are now collected by the elite, not the masses.

art should be something that everyone can enjoy, not only those of privledge
