The story so far.... Kaeryna is a child of the Seacraft Hall, whose mother is the Headwoman. She's grown up exploring hidden places, caves and obviously spending a lot of time in and about the water. As far as important things that happen in her life... she's really not had that many. Her father dissapeared at sea some time ago, but she's resigned to that as part of seafaring life - and so doesn't speak of it overly much. All this changed though, when a blue dragon came visitng the Hall. Now, dragons aren't the most welcome at the Seacraft Hall at the best of times, and this one seemed to think that Kaeryna could help stop bad dreams about big brown bugs, probably as a result of a recent bug infestation at Igen Weyr. As a result, Jaralth and K'ti took Kaeryna back to Igen with them, to stand for the clutch that was on the sands.

The bugs proved rather profitable for Kaeryna, and she (with best friend Eslyn) managed to start quite a lucrative trade in bugs back to the Hall to use as bait. This stopped when the Weyrwoman arranged for the place to be de-bugged, and so the young Candidate switched her hunting skills to tunnelsnakes instead, selling the skins to tanners to make into slippers and the like. Hatching day came, and while she was betting with some boys at the back of the group as to which of the other girls was going to Impress the gold that had hatched, she found herself overwhelmed with a feeling of being scrutinised, followed by the thoughts in her head << Rozhenth. >> Once, then again, << I am your Rozhenth. I have tested you, Kaeryna, refined you. Come to me of your own free will. >>

And that was that. The youngest candidate in her group found herself lifemated to gold Rozhenth, and her new life as a Weyrling at Igen has just begun.
