Savannah smiles and nods, "Hello."
Rhi gives a quick look around the room and heads over to the pile of furs after Jaxelle to check on them. Looking back up to the voice she gives a warm smile "Hello. Are you with the weavers that have come over?"
Tirom wanders in. Tirom has arrived.
Savannah shakes her head, "No, I am come from High Reaches Weyr. I delivered a message over at Tillek and came here to see the Seacraft."
Tirom wanders into the hall quietly, grinning though to himself as he quickly moves along. He waves to Jaxelle, Aralia, and Rhi as he moves towards the furs.
Cumara wanders in. Cumara has arrived.
St'fen wanders in. St'fen has arrived. St'fen strides in, still in his riding gear.
Jaxelle's own entrance is with more noise than the rest, her own fair of firelizards diving and trilling about her head. "Well back off now, you three! I can't see a thing!" she cries, waving both hands about fondly at her three as she jogs towards the pile of furs on the hearth, following close on Rhi's heels. "Are they ready, Rhi?" she murmers, squatting down nearby to gently touch an egg.
Cumara wanders into the hall.
Rhi ahs and nods "There's been a group of weavers around here, I shouldn't have just assumed." With another smile she shrugs and looks back to the eggs at Jax's request. "I don't know.. what do you think? Those are certainly excited about something." With a quick wave she points to Jaxelle's little fair.
Tirom blinks a bit, pausing, confused a little at Jaxelle's reaction. He pauses, but moves quickly over to her.
Echo wanders in. Echo has arrived.
Spiriel wanders in. Spiriel has arrived.
Ciddyn wanders in. Ciddyn has arrived.
Savannah smiles, "No problem. I'm Savannah. What have y'all got there?"
Aralia waves her arm about as her gold swoops down to flitter about her head. "Wretched thing!" she scolds, managing to duck down and out of the road of her trilling and chirpling. Waves are passed off here there and everywhere, before she creeps back to find a seat close to the furs. "Did you check this Rhi?" she asks, bending down to take a peek at the eggs. Tirom is sent a bright smile as she spots him.
Ciddyn peers into the great hall, and upon noticing the group of people, he runs towards them. "Jaxelle! Jaxelle! Whats going on?" "Shells! I think they .. ack!" Jaxelle falls gracelessly back on her tush as one of the tiny things jumps beneath her hand, her startled expression melting into a look of pure excitement. "They're going to hatch!" she cries, looking up to Rhi as if this wasn't obvious already. "Get the .. Where's the YOU!" she points to a nearby drudge, hailing the girl down . Orders are flung out and several people scatter for bowls of meat.
Cumara blinks, looking around. "What's going on?"
Tirom's eyes widen more now, he bites his lip, looking to Jaxelle, then to some of the others.
Cumara looks around at the others. She then looks back to Rhi and Jaxelle.
Selandra wanders in. Selandra has arrived.
Aralia reaches down into the furs, checking the eggs over before ker-plunking herself into a seat close by. "Phew. Oh you shardling creature!" the gold that had previously swooped away now spirals down to perch upon her shoulder--a sweet thrumming noise starting in her throat. "Rhi? Jax?" she peers through the weavings of people for her friends.
Selandra strides in carrying a message-roll and calling out a Fort's Duties to those gathered.
Spiriel frowns and picks up her daughter, who hides her face in her mother's chest. "What's going on?" She moves forward a few steps until she realizes, and then she smiles. "Riena darling, there's nothing to be afraid of, we're at your first firelizard hatching." The little girl raises her head and beams. "Kimmy?" Spiri smiles. "Not Kimmy, but like her." The bluerider finds a place to sit, her daughter on her lap.
Echo walks in, catiously, one hand on her belly. She peers around the Cavern, lifting her chin to see over people better. The little brown on her shoulder *cheeps*, causing the young girl -- she can't be more than sixteen, and her pregnancy isn't that obvious just yet -- to smile softly and reach up to scritch his eyeridge fondly. "She's around here someplace, Semmie."
Savannah wanders over to the First Floor Hall. Savannah has left.
Cumara blinks and takes a bowl of meat from a drudge, looking to the furs that seem to have everyones attention.
It would seem the place is quite abuzz, drudges running in, people running out, bowls of raw meat filling hands. It's Jaxelle's voice that seems to rise above the din, shouting out an order here, or reassuring a little there. To Ciddyns question she mearly shoves a handful of meat to the child and smiles reassuringly, "Right there, Ciddyn. You just watch. They're hatching." Another handful is handed to Tirom and the girl busies herself with greeting the newest arrivals, explaining the situation as best she can through the glow of excitement that's come about her.
Ciddyn's view gets blocked by all of the taller people gathering. He steps on his tip toes to see better, but this dosn't help. Finally, he crawls underneith some people in the small crowd and makes it to the front where he can see.
Savannah wanders in. Savannah has arrived.
Tirom smiles as he is handed meat as well. He holds onto it, though looking a little nervous, he's mostly excited. He glances over to Ciddyn then, before looking back to the eggs.
Rhi runs her hands through her hair, looking round at all the people and starting to mutter to herself "Carlin.. oh she'll never believe this." before she takes another tray of meat and walks around the evergrowing crowd., handing small bowls of meat out to whoever wants them.
Seastorm Egg shimmy-rocks to one side, gathering up a sprinkling of sands that fleck and glitter over it's lightening streaked shell. The movement stops almost as abruptly as it started -- falling back against the other eggs.
St'fen eventually figures out what is going on. He's walked into a firelizard hatching. Well, a hatching about to happen. He tugs off his jacket and helmet, placing them at an empty table. He draws close to where the eggs seem to be. Somewhere along the line he aquires meat from the bowlfulls being passed around.
Sand-Flecked Egg seems to shudder slightly, moving a little from its secure position in the sands. As suddenly as the movement started, it ceases, leaving the watchers unsure of whether it had really even moved at all.
Ciddyn smiles and nods to Jaxelle, taking the meat in his hands. His eyes glisten with curiosity and excitement. The normally shy little is far too excited to keep quiet. He points and exclaims, "That one moved! And that one too!"
Cumara approaches where the eggs are with the others, watching the eggs that are rocking back and forth, holding onto her bowl of meat.
Seastorm Egg picks up movement again, tumbling over and over from base to tip-base to tip, then stops at the very edge of the furs. Slowly, it's starts to shake again--glittering sands flicking back and off it's smooth shell. And then, a tap-tap noise starts, very soft, and barely audible to anyone that isn't directly in front of the fur pile
Selandra does a doubletake and grin widely. "Hatching? Does anyone mind if I..." even her firelizards appear to take on a disparaging sideways look as they join in with the humming.
Tirom's eyes widen and he tries to move a tiny bit closer, holding his handful of meat still and watching.
Jaxelle shoves forth a bowl into Selandra's hand, motioning the lady closer with a wide smile.
Echo runs her fingers through very red hair, smiling a friendly, if clueless, smile to the strangers surrounding her. Serves her right for leaving Ista. Stupid half-sister. She blinks when she spots Tirom and a few of the others gathering around some firelizard eggs. "Need a friend, Semmie?" She asks of the brown, who's beginning to humm, on her shoulder. She chuckles and glances around for some meat.
Aralia squeezes through various scatterings of people, handing out overflowing bowls of meat. She walks past Echo, smiling at the red-headed girl and offering over one of the bowls.
Crashing Waves Egg suddenly bumps against the dark egg nearby, it's shell carving tracks into the sand as it scoots on past as though pushed. Unfortunately, a fold of the fur seems to disagree with this activity, for it provides the barrier that stops the eggs motion. Passively, the bright little thing agreeably ceases it's progress.
Selandra smiles even wider still, looking more like a teen at her first gather than a fully-grown woman. Mindful of the others around her she smiles at Jaxelle "Thanks." and squeezes closer.
Cumara smiles, getting a piece of meat in her hand ready. "I could use a little friend." She says quietly as she watches the eggs.
Savannah sits off to one side of the assmblage, watching closely.
Spiriel watches the movements of the eggs with a smile, and an expression of nostalgia. Riena bounces and giggles on her lap, pointing at the shaking eggs. Spiri keeps a tight hold of her so she doesn't topple over, and looks around, nodding to the people she knows within the crowd. Riena points at the eggs and looks at her mother. "Friends for Kimmy?" Spiriel smiles and shakes her head. "No, I don't think that would be a good i..." She stops when Riena looks about to cry. "Shhh, don't cry. I can't guarantee it, but I'll get some meat to see if one of them wants to come home with us, okay?" She stops a drudge passing by and takes some meat from her.
Ciddyn looks awkwardly nervous with suspence as the firelizards in the vicinity all begin humming. His unblinking eyes stare as widely as is possible, so that he dosn't miss a single thing. Noticing another move, he jumps, "Another one! Another one!"
Sand-Flecked Egg sways a little to the right, the back to the centre and then back to the right a little further then comes to rest at about a 45 degree angle. Just as it seems that it isn't going to do anything else, it seems to jump, and places itself back in almost exactly the same place as it had started from, except for the sands that have been shifted around and are now piled around it's base.
Jaxelle approaches Spiriel and the little with a wink, "Spiriel! Grand timing.. oh and who's this? Here now.. help your mum with her bowl." Thus said, she sets a bowl of raw strips beside the pair and wanders off through the crowd to assist elsewhere.
Tirom grins at the hopping egg, and looks back to Jaxelle a moment, if he can see her, then turns his wide-eyed attention back to the eggs.
Ciddyn keeps at a safe distance in the circle from the eggs, and crouches down to get a better view of the shaking and shuddering little things.
Spiriel smiles at Jaxelle. "Thank you" she calls as Jaxelle busies herself helping someone else. Riena grabs the bowl to 'help', and luckily Spiri gets a hold of it before the meat can get everywhere. "Here, let's both hold it."
Seastorm Egg does a little shimmy-shake to the left, knocking up against one of the other eggs. Listening very closely, a tap-tap-tapping sound can be heard, and suddenly the eggshell begins to crumble - first the smoky tendrils peeling back to reveal the tiny hatchling inside - and then the rest, shattering to leave the hatchling sitting atop the pile of shards in bafflement.
Twinkles of sunlight catch across the dark, murky green of this little one's hide, like light filtering down through the dark water of an ocean. Ribbon thin strips of almost black-washed green wrap around her body, bundling the small hatchling up like a delicate package. She seems to be cloaked in in a web of seaweed, midnight strips of colour that tangle up around her legs, and the long delicate curve of her neck. Her whole body is quite streamlined, narrow and slim with a long, sinous tail tipped with a sudden patch of brillaint gold - as if just that tip had been dipped into a bucket of pure sunlight. For a green, she must be rather shy, judging by the way she flicks her lace-thin wings out, and bends them down to cover her narrow head. Crimson-whirling eyes peek out from beneath those wings to regard you, twim ruby gems that sparkle with a hidden curiousity, and shyness. She seems more at home to spin and twirl through the air above the sea than anywhere else, tangling herself up in the seaweed washed upon the shore.
Savannah grabs a bowl and scoots into the edge of the gathered circle, "Oh, look at you. Little gorgeous!"
St'fen watches over the people who in turn are watching the eggs. Armed with a small bowl of meat of his own he eventually finds a place to sit. He crosses his legs beneath him and sits down nearish the eggs. "She's a pretty one." he comments about the green.
Cumara ooos at the green that just hatched, holding out her piece of meat, as she watches it, glancing from the little green to the rocking eggs, and back.
Selandra is drawn more to the shyness than anything else, her hand slipping out reluctantly, but slowly towards the beautiful green, and she croons softly under her breath, just audible to anyone listening intently in the surrounding babble.
Ciddyn almost falls backwards, forgetting his balance as he watches an egg shatter to reveal the little green. "It really is a f'lizard!" he exclaims to Jaxelle with a bright smile.
Tirom just blinks a bit, staring in awe for a long moment. "Wow..." Then, he quickly snaps out of it. Though not quite sure what to do, he has a general idea, and he holds a piece of meet out, speaking softly to the little green. "Hi. Bright out here, huh?"
"Indeed it is, Ciddyn!" Jaxelle replies with a laugh, beaming at the little green and turning a proud and slightly sad look at Rhi. All the days they've been watching it, and now /the/ day is here.
Spiriel grabs for the bowl of meat as Riena bounces in her lap and points with one hand (and letting go of the bowl with the other) at the little green hatchling. "Kimmy!" she shouts, beaming at her mother. "Not Kimmy, but close dear. She is pretty, isn't she?" Riena nods and sticks both hands deep into the meat bowl, squishing them around the bloody mess and making Spiri wince with expected cleanup needs in the future.
Echo ends up near to Spiriel and smiles in a friendly manner to the High Reaches dragonrider with all the children. "Are they all... yours?" She wonders, increadously, ooohing softly as the little green emerges and stealing a few scraps out of someone elses bowl, kneeling down and holding her hand out. She grins hugely at Ciddyn, and the other children. She glances down at her own semi-flat belly, and caresses it fondly.
Seaweed-Tangled Green Hatchling croons so softly that it might just be a sad little song. Her wings folds back carefully, lacey sails glittering in the light of the glows. *Chirp*! Her little head swings around, cocked to one side as if listening for something--for the sweetest song to capture her heart. She stumbles forward, landing with a *splat* of egg-goop and shells bits on the ground.
Sand-Flecked Egg shudders slightly, almost imperceivable, before one side seems to burst from the other, splitting almost exactly in two. A small blue hatchling sits in the center of the two halves, looking from one half to the other with slow consideration before reaching out a shimmering wingtip to pushing one from himself. This done, he rises slowly to his haunches and peers around at the group of onlookers, seeming to size each one up carefully.
This little gentleman certainly won't be anywhere near the largest of blues when fully grown, but despite his petite size he carries an air of independance and self certainty that more than makes up for any physical lacking. His eyes swirl with determination, born of a need to prove himself worthy of his pet, to whom he has fiercest of loyalties. His delicate wings are an almost translucent ice-blue, making him difficult to spot against Perns bright skies. The almost grey-blue of his undersized hide is patterned by featherlike stokes of the same ice as his wings, rolling like waves on a rough sea down the entire length of his small body. As they approach his hindquarters, they grow further apart, eventually blending to a startling sapphire that continually deepens until it reaches the tip of his tail.
Savannah chuckles lightly, holding a piece of meat out to the green, "My, aren't you lovely?"
Spiriel smiles at Echo. "Hello there, High Reaches' duties. All?" She smiles and shakes her head. "Only Riena here is mine, we came down for a visit." She smiles at the girl in her lap, who is currently very busy making a mess in the meat bowl.
Aralia peers down at the little green with non-chalance, though she does earn more than one glance. "Oh here's some meat scraps.." she murmurs to one of the littles she brought with her.
Cumara smiles watching the green, but then looking to the newly hatched blue, then back to the green, holding her meat out, but also still, as she watches the hatchlings.
Tirom looks to the blue as it appears, binking again, then back to the green. He bites his lip, but holding his meat out still, wiggling it just a little.
Rhi ohs as she watches the little green "She's just like Asher was' she whispers to Jaxelle as she walk past with refills for the meat bowls.
St'fen grins. "What a pair." he comments. He looks into his bowl and picks out a spiderclaw. "This should be good." he holds it in the palm of one hand, watching the green and blue both.
Ciddyn just stares at the little green in pure delight. It looks as if he couldn't be happier, that is, until he sees the little blue. "They're out! They're okay." He grins happily.
Something Fishy Egg wiggles down from it's place in the sand, seeming to almost drag a path behind it--trail left in the glittering golden flecks. It knocks up against another egg--bounces off--knocks up against another--then tumbles down forwards, so far it almost rolls right out of the protective furs.
Selandra grins warmly at the blue, but most of her attention is fixed on the shy lass in the basket. "Come on now sweety, you'll be needing to get some of this in you." she chatters softly.
Spiriel winces as Riena grabs onto her sleeve to get her attention, and leaves a bloody print there on her clothing. "'Drif!" Spiri turns the wince into a smile and chuckles. "This little guy won't get as big as Ilandrith is." She watches him for awhile. "But what a handsome blue he is."
Storm-tossed Blue Hatchling looks around and makes his way over towards the people and -food-. Noticing Tirom's offering he takes a few hesitant steps and tears off a small piece.
Harvey the Raft Monster Egg shivers in it's nestle of hot sands, it's shadowy shell seeming almost alive with the movement. The light hits it /just so/ in this moment to create the illusion of the sea-serpant it's named after actually swimming through the murky depths. This mirage lasts for but a blink of an eye before the egg quiets, returning to it's sleep.
Tirom smiles happily as the blue takes the small piece of meat. He holds the remainder out still, watching the blue hatchling as it eats, a bright smile on his face.
Seaweed-Tangled Green Hatchling gathers herself up--peeking around shyly from beneath one shimmering wing. She creels ever so softly it might not be heard above the chatter of people about. Selandra catches her eye, and the crooning she performed earlier seems to strike a note in her heart. She pitter-patters in that direction--stopping once she's close enough to take another look around. Wings snap back, rustling up carefully--and she tips her muzzle to the air, sniffing delicately for food.
Cumara smiles as she continues to watch the two hatchlings, smiling as she holds out her meat offering. Her eyes wandering from the hatchlings, to the rocking eggs and back to the hatchlings, giving a brief glance to the others before looking back.
Echo nods up at Spiriel. "Ista's duties -- I don't know anyone here. I'm down for a visit too." She giggles at Riena, watching the little girl with interest. "She's beautiful..." and grimaces at the handprint. "And messy, too." Giggle.
Echo has a very thick Istian accent. She shuffles on her knees, closer to the eggs, peering around a standing child at the little green and blue. She grins at Tirom. "Looks like you found a friend."
Ciddyn watches the little blue go for the meat in Tirom's hand. He looks curiously down at the meat in his own hand. Unsurely, he looks from Jaxelle to Rhi and fidgets with the pieces of f'lizard food. He does just barely manage to see the Harvey egg move and that is enough to cause him to burst into a fit of giggles, "Its the monster egg!"
Selandra smiles in Riena's direction, catching the drift of the conversation. Her hand tenses back momentarily as she looks slightly guilty, but then stretches out again carefully. "That's right, food sweetling."
Jaxelle smiles encouragingly at both Ciddyn and Tirom, stoping just a moment to crouch near the littler of the boys and murmer something into his ear, giving him a wink and a playful pat. Jaxelle mutters to Ciddyn.
Storm-tossed Blue Hatchling continues to look around and moves to take some of Spiriel's food too before he moves back to stand in the center peering between the two.
Aralia wanders over to stand beside Tirom, grinning down at the young boy. She watches the blue hatchling quite close to him with a look of slight amusement, then sinks back into the crowd to offer more meatbowls around.
Pandeira wanders in. Pandeira has arrived.
Spiriel smiles at the little blue hatchling. Riena claps her hands happily, that the hatchling had chosen to come so close. Of course, the mess on her fingers flies a bit at that point, mostly getting on the little girl herself.
Ciddyn smiles and nods to Jaxelle, reassured. He bites his bottom lip and looks from the green to the blue, and back to the raft monster egg.
Crashing Waves Egg leaps away in a massive shudder, departing from the fold of furs that entangled it and bouncing end over end along in the sands as though the hatchling within is having a temper-tantrum to end all hissies. Finally it lands smack dab in the center of the sands, and pauses, sulking.
Tirom giggles a little as he watches the blue, strangely not looking all that disappointed as it moves away. "It's ok," he says to it. "Go to whoever ya want. Big choice." Tirom speaks to the firelizard as if it understands everything.
Storm-tossed Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Tirom.
Seaweed-Tangled Green Hatchling continues to sniff at the air--then warble-croons sadly. No, that isn't the person she was searching for. The little green wobbles away from a young red-headed lad trying to snatch for her, and instead hop-wobbles her way over to Selandra, peering up with bright crimson whirling eyes. The food is given a little sniff, before she sinks back--hiding beneath her wings again.
Pandeira steps lightly into the room breathlessly, one hand being pulled forward by a small boy who is talking excitedly about hatching firelizard eggs. Pandy, nods her agreement to the stream of babble and then lets him lead her to a good place to watch. Her eyes scan the faces of those present and she smiles in greeting.
A smile bursts back onto Ciddyn's face as he watches the blue go to Tirom. "Thats what happens.." he says mostly to himself, now better enlightened on this event so new to him.
Tirom still smiles happily as the blue stumbles back to him, leading it up onto his hand and continues to happily feed it, backing off a little from the furs.
St'fen awes sadly for the green. "Such a sad little one." he holds out the spiderclaw so it can be seen. If she would look over in his direction.
Selandra flicks open the flap of a pouch on her riding leathers and draws out a handful of fresh spiderclaws. Cracking one open deftly she draws the meat out and dangles it from her free hand, chatting quietly all the time. "That's it, fresh food, just what a young critter like you needs right now, after all, you'll need it to grow big and healthy to take on all those rowdy male firelizards out there... come on sweetling... gently now."
Cumara smiles at Tirom as he impresses the little blue. "Congratulations." She says before looking back to the shy little little green. "Ooo, what a shy little one she is.
Jaxelle looks absolutely delighted for Tirom and motions for a drudge to bring him a platter of meat strips, knowing a 'lizards appetite at hatching.
Ciddyn sees people congratulating Tirom and smiles saying, "Cungramulations."
Fishing-Net Egg sways gently, hardly moving at all initially, but slowly builds up until it sways quite vigorously. Then slows again, dancing gently in its place again, until it comes to rest once more.
Seaweed-Tangled Green Hatchling folds her wings back carefully, taking a small peek over at St'fen and his spiderclaws. They hold her attention for just a moment--and she croons oh-so-sadly up at Selandra. Crimson whirling eyes tip up, and her maw snaps open as those egg-gooped wings flitter out and takes her hopping up to grab onto Selandra's leg, aiming to take a mouthful of those spiderclaws. Seaweed-Tangled Green Hatchling stumbles towards Selandra.
Savannah smiles at Selandra sadly, "Congratulations, she's beautiful."
Ciddyn smiles to Selandra this time and says as adult-like as possible, "Congramulations."
Spiriel smiles at both Tirom and Selandra in turn. "Congratulations, both of you. They look like they'll be wonderful friends."
Cumara smiles at Selandra. "Way to go, shes pretty!" She smiled as she looked back to the eggs.
Selandra winces momentarily as the sharp claws press into the leathers, but she smiles warmly. "Thanks." she notes softly to the wellwishers, throwing out her own "Congradulations in Tirom's direction.
Echo blinks at all of the children around -- not that she minds, but she's gotten quite the few bloody fingers pressed into her tunic. And it isn't hers, either! Oh well. She winches as she gets pawed in the face by a brown-haired boy, leaving a bloody streak -- her hair is only a few shades lighter. "Thanks," she mumbles dryly, giving his bottom a lightly little pat. She smiles to the new owners of the firelizards -- not knowing ether of them, of course. But they seem to like firelizards well enough. She tilts her head and peers at the rocking eggs. "I wonder which will hatch next?"
Crashing Waves Egg scuttles across the sands as though some invisible force propells it, sending granuals spraying out in every direction. Thankfully, it's runaway course is shortlived as it plows into a layer of thick fur, spining around halfway until it comes to what seems a full stop. Only a moment passes, however, until shards *explode* outwards in a spattering of shell, some pieces reduced to dust! When things clear a bit, standing at the center of the disaster area, wings fully spread, long neck swaned downwards into a hunch, stands a gleaming, bronze hatchling. His baleful stare takes in each of the people nearest him and a soft hiss rises from his throat, eyes whirling fast and red with hunger.
Stoutly built, this little bronze sits on his haunches with the same solidity as a boulder, smoothed by centuries of breaking ocean waves. His snout held high, a spray of sparkling blue spatters his broad chest, spreading out and becoming a delicate creme as it crests against the curve of his wings. One large splotch of that same, soft, creme covers half his face and snout, appearing as though perhaps he fell into the oceans surf and has yet to shake off its clinging foam. Bright, liquid waves of fire dance from the knob of his wedge-shaped head to the tip of his tail, orange and golden hues fighting for dominance with each rippling movement of his sinuous length, as though Perns setting sun is constantly caught in reflection off his smooth hide. Molten, multifaceted eyes hold a mix of suspicious caution and unfettered willpower, each step forward carefully and decisively placed - one might get the feeling that if he had visible ears, they'd be rather noticably pricked.
Tirom smiles happily up to Jaxelle, though he's far too busy trying to feed the hungry firelizard to actually say anything to her.
Peering forward with hands clasped before her Pandeira 'Ooos' and offers her "Congratulations!" to both the new firelizard owners. The child who came with her pushes a raw strip of wherry into her hands. Looking about to see if anyone objects she holds the meat out at arms length, clutching it by the very end of her fingertips, trying to offer it out like the person standing just slightly in front of her.
Ciddyn tries to duck out of the way of the exploding egg, but a shell shard and bit of slime splats on his face. He makes an 'icky' expression and wipes it off. Its not long before he begins his infectious giggle again, "It got on me." he says through his laughter.
Meril wanders in. Meril has arrived.
Cumara ohs as the little bronze hatches, she smiled as she watched him, and the rocking eggs. "What a handsome fellow." She says to noone in particular.
Spiriel is just quick enough to stop Riena from lifting as much of the meat in the bowl out that she can with both of her hands, and making more of a mess than she already has. "No dear, how about if I do it? You can be ready to give me more meat if I need it." The little girl nods happily and all are saved from more cleanup, as Spiriel takes a bit of the meat into one hand, holding it out to the newest hatching, the little bronze.
Selandra beams, too absorbed with getting meat in the hungry hatchlings mouth without losing her fingers to notice the latest arrival, but when she does, she just grins. "It figures." she notes under her breath, but there's no illintent in the words.
Something Fishy Egg gives a little shake--sands flinging off it's smooth blue shell to scatter over it's clutchsibs. Pale shades streak apart, like a storm suddenly raging across the most peaceful ocean morning--and sends the egg shattering apart, tendrils of colour peeling back to reveal the hatchling inside. Suddenly brown wings flick out, egg-goop flying everywhere, and a short, sharp creel pierces the air. This little man wants /food/! Sienna and copper tangle together across an ocean of soft, fawn brown, colours that almost seem to disappear into a cloak of speckled mists. His snout peeks out from these foggy grey shades, a bright tip of bronze that streaks up, hiding admist shadowy waves of smoky brown. Delicacy is certainly not a trait of this bumbling brown, and he stumbles forth on overly large paws - colours dancing across his talons like the glowing eyes of strange creatures from beneath the ocean waves. Grey tinged fog seems to shy back against his tail, allowing his true colour to seep out. Sienna deepens as it sweeps down along his back, streaked with just the hint of morning gold and the warm colours of the sunrise at dawn. Dark shadows wrap around his long neck and tail, breaking through the fog the stretch a patch of shimmer across his wings, the barest kiss of daylight's golden hues peeking out from heavy mists.
St'fen turns his attention from Selandra and her newly Impressed green back towards the eggs. "Looks like another one is going to...." the egg hatches then. St'fen dodges a small peice of egg shell. "...hatch." he finishes. "And what a handsome fellow." he replaces the spiderclaw into his bowl and takes out a small strip of wherry. "Maybe this will be liked." he looks up, dangleing it from his fingertips. "Oooh, a brown too." he watches both the newly hatched males, his offering swaying slightly.
Savannah smiles, watching the male firelizards closely.
Goop from the next hatching egg splats on Ciddyn again and he laughs harder. "It keeps getting on me." he says giddily. He does admire the two recently hatched firelizards, but still affords the Harvey egg a very curious gaze.
Cumara smiles watching the bronze, and then she looked to the newly hatched brown. She smiled as she glanced between the two hatchlings. "They are pretty."
Meril just stands aside to watch, not trying to impress any in particular. She smiles as she sees all the people around her busy hand and foot and looks at the Harvey egg curiously.
Spiriel manages, while still holding out the piece of meat with one hand, to wipe off Riena's hands with the other. A feat that takes a bit of time and coordination, but one that Spiri and Riena's clothes will appreciate.
Cumara smiles watching the bronze, and then she looked to the newly hatched brown. She smiled as she glanced between the two hatchlings. "They are pretty." Her piece of meat still held out to where the hatchlings could see it.
Selandra chuckles too, drawing back from the basket to settle a bit further away, bowl gripped in one hand, hatchling cradled in the other arm. "Good luck with those spiderclaws." she adds to St'fen in a quiet murmer.
Wave-Crashed Boulder Bronze Hatchling shakes off a tiny bit of shell stick stuck to his wings, wedged head swiveling on his graceful neck to peer at the nearest offerings. A soft hiss rises in his throat and in a scattering of eggs, he lunges through them..only the fall with all limbs splayed, one wing dragging partially behind. Looking absolutely furious, he tries to untangle himself, and with much lashing winds up getting himself wrapped in his wings. An unhappy creel splits the air.
Echo was shielded by a little boy from the flying egg shards. Nya! She giggles and peers around him, pushing out her palm of squishy red meat at the brown and the bronze. It's one of many hands, actually, one of the larger, more femine ones -- she's surrounded by littles, you see. And one of them is pulling on her longlong very red hair. "Ow! Hey."
Ciddyn giggles at Echo and turns back to watch the little 'lizards.
Spiriel winces at the bronze's fall, but doesn't in any way try to help. "You'll have to get yourself out of this one, little guy. I'd help you if I could."
St'fen winces slightly. "Poor thing. He looks pretty mad." he watches anxiously for the Wave-crashed Boulder Bronze to right himself. "You can do it." he says encouragingly.
Foggy-Morning Brown Hatchling lets out a loud, sharp *CREEL*! He wants that food and he wants it /now/! He stumbles forward, large paws making him lollop along almost like a canine. *Sniff-sniff*, muzzle in the air, he goes wandering about for food -- and those spiderclaws are the first to catch his eye.
Ciddyn covers his ears with his palms as the Foggy brown hatchling creels loudly. He giggles again, "Wow, he sure has a voice."
Cumara smiles watching the bronze, blinking as he gets himself tangled up in his wings. "Oh, the poor thing." She glanced from the tangled bronze to the young brown.
Pandeira takes a half step back in surprise a the noise of the newly hatched firelizards. She looks about the group, watching to see what kinds of things the others do to attract the attention of one of the lovely creatures to their particular offering. She sees that waving the food seems to help and so wriggles her fingers to make the slice of wherry dance.
St'fen looks over to Selandra, flashing a smile. "Spiderclaws always seem to be a good choice. I've got a few peices of wherry for backup too." he murmurs back with another smile.
Harvey the Raft Monster Egg jumps, tiny cracks begining to appear on it's surface as bits of shell dust crumble delicately from these forming nooks. Another shudder runs down it's lengths, as though the hatchling within is shaking itself off, and then all movement stops.. the smooth sands barely marred beneith it.
Meril smiles and nods to Ciddyn, "He is awfully hungry." She looks at the brown and bronze hatchling, and the people trying to impress it. She looks at the Harvey egg and gasps when it cracks.
Ciddyn jumps excitedly as the Harvey egg shudders and cracks. "Its moving again!" he looks absolutely thrilled. All attention on that egg, he watches and waits quietly.
Spiriel looks at the Harvey the Raft Monster Egg for a moment, hmming to herself. "My, that's an interesting egg. It's one that I think I'd remember. I wonder what will hatch from it?" She's not talking to anybody in particular, just rumminating to herself.
Wave-Crashed Boulder Bronze Hatchling blinks several lids in a forlorn way, then a soft hissing huff erupts and flinging both wings out he wiggle about until he rights himself. Pulling himself to full height, he stares suspiciously at the laughing little Ciddyn, taking a few careful steps closer.
Spiriel smiles at the bronze. "There you go, I knew you could do it. Bet nothing will get in your way, ever."
Selandra smiles. "Packtail works on some of them a real treat too..." she runs her fingers down the green's side in a gentle caress. "Well sweetling, what are we going to call you... Mizarna, Oecusse, Genrissa..." the green nestles down in the crook of her arm drowsily, too full to budge.
Meril looks at the bronze and smiles when it seems to get closer to Ciddyn. She wonders if Ciddyn has anything to feed them because she can't see any from where she is standing, which is from on the outer rim of the crowd.
Cumara she replaced her meat with a spiderclaw that the hatchlings seemed to like, as she watched the brown and bronze walking around.
Foggy-Morning Brown Hatchling flop-walks his way towards the scent of those inticing spiderclaws. He tips his little head up--attempting to glance up at the hand attached to them, and instead goes tumbling backwards to land on his back with a *splat*. Well, /that/ wasn't suposed to happen. He snorts--darting a look around to make sure no-one saw that, and stumbles up to his feet again. *SNAP* go the jaws, and suddenly he's launching himself at St'fen.
Ciddyn continues to smile and giggle, not entirely aware of the attention placed on him. The meat sits idley in his open hand. Foggy-Morning Brown Hatchling stumbles towards St'fen.
St'fen looks into his bowl. Only spiderclaws and some wherry strips. No packtail. Ah well. Right now St'fen has a piece of meat dangling freely from his finger. He starts to look around for one of the hatchlings when the Foggy-Morning Brown is suddenly right there. He snatches his fingers away before they go into the mouth too. He scoops up the brown, offering him more food.
Savannah giggles at the bronze, watching him closely.
Cumara smiles at St'fen. "Congradulations!" She says as she watches, before looking back to the bronze and the shaking eggs, smiling a little as she watches them, holding out the piece of spiderclaw in her palm.
Selandra giggles. "But spiderclaws do seem to work much better..."
Meril takes a piece of spiderclaw from the table and goes to stand behind Ciddyn, incase he needs it. She is almost sure that the bronze has his eye on the little, but she isn't sure if the little notices yet.
Pandeira's free hand goes up to cover her lips in a motion of surprise as she watches the current wave of firelizards move towards people. Moving her fingers for a moment she smiles and calls out, "Congratulations!" before her mouth is quickly covered again. Her wherry slice is still held out in a dainty gesture and as her attention is brought back to it she waggles the meat slightly.
Wave-Crashed Boulder Bronze Hatchling glares at the child, who's not paying attention to /him/! What could possibly be wrong with the chubby thing..well.. hmm.. Crimson eyes whirl and the hatchling stumbles forward another step, There /is/ that nice strip of meat in his hand. Humph! He wants it. And with that decided, he hops right into the childs hand, snatching up the meat and giving Ciddyn a triumphant look. Hah! He's got it. And you can't have it back, either.
Fishing-Net Egg jiggles across the sands a little as if it's trying to escape it's net covering. It pauses slightly, then resumes its wriggle. It seems however to become more entangled as it moves along, only to come to rest once more.
St'fen grins, scooting back some. "Yup, they do work." he continues to feed the brown.
Wave-Crashed Boulder Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Ciddyn.
Echo rocks impatiently on her knees, brushing back red hair from her face and pulling two littles that keep standing in her way into her lap, so she can tickle them! One of her fists, of course, is full of meat, so this proves to be difficult. Both of them -- a boy and a girl -- squirm with giggles, before settling themselves more firmly in Echo's lap. She asked for it. Now she really has to strain to see -- over two blonde little heads.
Seaweed Egg starts a-wiggling in the very center of the clutch. Knock-knock, 'Excuse me please, coming through...'. The other eggs seem to make way for the delicate looking egg, and it rolls forwards, tumbling down a few egg-spaces. All movement stops for a long movement--then suddenly, the egg starts bouncing up and down like a shipfish jumping through the water, light glittering across it's smooth surface, creating a rainbow-like shimmer around it.
Meril smiles at Ciddyn and his bronze, "Congratulations Ciddyn!" She moves out of the way incase Ciddyn would want to feed his hatchling more.
Ciddyn falls backwards as the little hatchling jumps into his hand. "H-hey!" he says in surprise, and then is ingulfed in another fit of giggle-laughter. "You got me!" he picks up the little bronze. "You win!"
Fishing-Net Egg rolls forward, sands sticking to it's smooth surface - and it keeps on rollin-rollin-rollin, right out of the furs to crack apart against the bricks of the fireplace. A head peeks around from one half of the shell, crimson whirling eyes darting back and forth. There's a pause, before the egg is sent scattering in a million pieces, and the hatchling does a little flop-jump down to the floor.
The deep brown of this brown hatchling is dotted with paler patches of colour, giving his hide an uneven appearance, somewhat reminiscent of the barnacle covered hull of a boat. His eye ridges also feature this paler hue, adding to this effect as they stand out even more prominently. Unfurled wings show flecks of green, as if algae has grown along these barnacles, only visable when the light catches them just so. His head is held high, taking in the world as if it owes him something. There is an an air of haughtiness about him, which dissolves as he becomes more familiar with a situation, this only really being a front for the reserved creature that he really is.
Spiriel chuckles at the bronze. She still has the meat out, but currently she's just letting it lie next to her in her open hand, as she makes sure she got the last of the mess on Riena's outfit.
Savannah chuckles lightly, "Careful, he'll get fingers in there, too."
Selandra grins. "Well done." she says to Ciddyn, craning her head slightly to see where the bronze.
Cumara smiles, before glancing back to the eggs and ooos at the newly hatched brown.. She continued to hold her spiderclaw out in her palm as she watches the brown and the eggs.
Meril looks at the furs to see the remaining eggs and hatchlings and is fairly suprised that the Harvey egg had stopped moving. She looks then looks at Ciddyn again, just checking on him.
Ciddyn sits down on the ground, feeding his new found friend. The little bronze snaps up anything the little has to give him. "Hey! You almost got my finger!" he giggles more.
Spiriel holds out the meat for the brown, watching her daughter to make sure she doesn't 'help' with the meat, and smiles as she looks at him. "My, what colors he has."
Vinni flits in. Vinni has arrived.
Seaweed Egg wiggles across the sands, as the seaweed fronds seems to widen slightly. A small wingtip suddenly pushes forces away some of the shell, and a small bronze head peeks its way through the greenery, to be followed shortly after by half a hatchling. Lifting his head, he looks around, testing out whirling eyes before the rest of the egg is kicked apart and away and he stands, gingerly on his legs for the first time.
Soft, burnished bronze lay the base tones for this handsome guy. His muzzle is specked with cream, reflected on his underbelly as well, giving the impression he's been frolicking in sea foam which have yet to melt from his hide. Flashes of gold fall across his tail and wings, occasionally sweeping across his hindquarters as well. His wingspan, when unfurled, is a little above what you might expect even for a large bronze, but his body is rippled with sinuous muscle to provide more than enough momentum to lift his broad frame into flight. This same strength is evidenced in his wide eyes, containing a sense of mischief that comes to light at the most unexpected of times.
Pandeira giggles as she sees the little boy's delight with his new friend. She calls out her congrats with everyone else and then turns her attention to the final eggs. "I wonder what else will hatch?" She echos a question she's heard already posed tonight solely because the thought pops into her mind.
Vinni chirples in irritation at all the fuss over these eggs, then spots Jaxelle. Another chirple, and the green circles lazily above her and Aralia.
Lightning flits in. Lightning has arrived.
Spiriel smiles at the bronze. "My, he'll be big, won't he dear." She smiles at her daughter, who nods, whether she really has an opinion or not. Before Spiri can stop her, her hands are back in the meat bowl. But at least they're staying there and aren't straying to her clothes again. Spiri holds a piece of meat out, towards both the brown and the bronze firelizards.
Seafoam Bronze Hatchling goes pitter-pattering off to one side then suddenly *splats* landing muzzle first on the ground. He croons pitifully, arching his wings up, and gathering his tiny form up. Egg-goop drips off the ends of his wingsails--as he turns about in a wide circle, crimson whirling eyes piercing the gaze of those it meets with. With another creel, he starts sniffing at the air, searching out some food.
Barnacle Brown Hatchling staggers across the floor, creeling pathetically as he is unable to reach up for the food that he is -sure- is up there somewhere.
Cumara ooos at the other bronze that just hatched, eyes going from the bronze to the brown, to the eggs and back. "They are so pretty, wow." She says as she watches. Her piece of spiderclaw still held out in her palm.
Harvey the Raft Monster Egg rolls pathetically alone in the sands, turning a slow circuit like a foggy ball against a sea of creamy white. Shivering, another crack appears in it's shell, elongating down it's middle and ending at the formost tip. It would seem the little one within is having some trouble escaping, or perhaps is just one of those late bloomers.
Savannah doesn't know who or what to watch anymore, holds her meat idly in her hands, looking from eggs to hatchlings, to people and back.
Ciddyn is all smiles as he scritches his recently hatched bronze with a small finger. "You like that, don't you f'lizard?" He casts an eye back out at the other hatchlings and eggs every now and then, just to see what happens.
Spiriel smiles at the shaking again, and shakes her head. "Sometimes I wonder how the eggs get to be the colors they are, that one is...unique." She seems distracted for a moment, then smiles. "Yes, I know Ilandrith. Your egg was the best one, of course it was." She continues to hold out the meat.
Gently, Pandeira moves her hand side to side, undulating the succulent wherry strip back and forth. Her attention moves between watching both of the newly hatched males and what kinds of the things the others are offering. "Spiderclaws seem to work well." She makes note in case she gets such a chance again in the future.
Echo has food -- well, it's quite squished by now, bit it's still edible, for baby firelizards, right? Gooey and red. Like the state of her head if those darn Sea urchins keep playing with it -- with their meat-stained hands. But she doesn't seem to care, cuddling the two in her lap, and leaning over them, hands outstreatched, towards the brown and the bronze. "Here, lovies. I even squished it for you."
Cumara still holding out her spiderclaw she watched the two male hatchlings, giving a soft smile. "They are quite handsome" She says as she watches them, eyes drifting between the two.
Ciddyn giggles and smiles back at Echo, squinting his eyes shut as the bronze tries to climb up his face onto his head.
Barnacle Brown Hatchling tries to avoid the feet that land near him as he continues to creel from the floor. Looking up as the ocassional drop of blood falls by him he tries to get some attention.
Seafoam Bronze Hatchling swings himself around and around, more egg-goop flinging off the tips of his wings. *Splat* and there he goes again, stumbling and bumbling down to fall on his muzzle. He creels sadly, then picks himself up, swings his head about--and takes another look around for food. Aha! Busted--he patter-splatters towards the girl with the squished up food, head tipped up to take a peek at her--and that mane of bright hair.
Cumara smiles at the brown, crouching down to get closer to the floor as she watches the two hatchlings, giving a smile to the brown. "You want alot of attention don't you?" She says softly to the hatchlings.
Spiriel smiles at Echo, who has been sitting next to her. "Looks like he likes your food, especially."
Echo beams down at the seafoamie little bronze and spreads her fingers -- the red goo spreads like webbing between them. Yum. One of the littles in her lap reaches out to touch the bronze, but Echo swiftly moves his hand away. "No, no. Can't touch them until they impress. He might bite you."
Selandra says "Cyrstal" suddenly, and then grins a little sheepishly. "Sorry, thinking out loud." she murmurs apologetically to those around her and stares down at the little hatchling she's scritching casually. 'Cyrstal'" she says finally.
Pandeira giggles again, this time at the antics of the spinning firelizard. She doesn't even notice it when she gets a spot of egg goo on the end of one slipper, she must be having a good time. She still holds out her strip of wherry but now it moves more with the motion of her giggling than with purpose as her attention is drawn to trying to watch the others for the moment of impression.
Barnacle Brown Hatchling almost sighs as he is still waiting for some food. More noise is made impatiently as he dances from side to side, calling out for -someone- to feed him.
Cumara ooos at the little brown, holding out her piece of spider claw. "I have food for you little one." She says to the brown, giving a soft smile.
Seafoam Bronze Hatchling sniffs at Echo's fingers delicately--then pokes his tiny firelizard tongue out to taste them. YUM! He laps up some of that squishy red stuff, and goes for another taste--this time maw opening wide. Crimson whirling eyes fix on the bright-haired girls face, and he suddenly springs up off his back legs--landing neatly in her lap. *Croon*. Seafoam Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Echo.
Maia wanders in. Maia has arrived.
Ciddyn leans sideways as his little bronze works on scaling his head. He smiles brightly, and sideways at Echo. "Congramitations." he looks back at the lonely brown in the circle and says, "I think that one is hungry."
Barnacle Brown Hatchling rips at the spider claw ravenously, the piece gone before he knows it as he reaches back up for another, and another before looking up at Cumera almost gratefully as the creel turns to croon, and the eating starts to slow down.
Maia moves into the hall slowly.
Cumara smiles as the brown takes the spiderclaw, she reached into her bowl and pulled out another spiderclaw, holding it out to the brown.
Barnacle Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Cumara. Meril looks down at the spiderclaw still in her hand and doesn't really know what to do with it. She crasps it in her palm while her hand falls to her side, trying to hide it from the hatchlings view although it is still fairly visible.
Meril then looks at the sands once again and at the remaining egg.
Echo blinks in suprise, the two littles in her lap scooting away to make room for the little bronze, who croons and nuzzles his head into her palm, licking up the gooey red stuff and making a royal mess of his beautiful head. Echo giggles and shakes her head, watching him flicker a forked tongue across his muzzle and clearly-lidded eye. "Thank you!" She giggles at Ciddyn.
Pandeira offers her well wishes to Echo in the form of, "Well done!" and now looks at the brown with deep interest. She kneels down a little farther to hold her wherry bit out towards the creel of hunger. "They sound so unhappy when they hatch!" Then she sees Cumara and the brown seem to have made a match and she smiles, "How wonderful!"
Only one egg left.. the larges of the bunch. Slowly, tumbles to one side, shivering there a moment.
Selandra grins noting the latest impression. "Congratulations..." she offers warmly.
Maia moves towards the group as well.
Cumara ohs as the brown stumbles toward her, continuing to feed the brown, as she moves away from the group, making room for others, taking her bowl with her.
Meril looks at the remaining egg and smiles, happy to see that it is still moving and well, though a little late compared to her clutchmates.
Ciddyn smiles up at Cumara as the little brown adopts her, "Congamilations."
Harvey the Raft Monster Egg trembles, it's shadowy shell distorting as a single crack expands and elongates, spreading the fragile egg apart like a sliced fruit. Suddenly, the pressure of the hatchling within becomes too much for the destabalized egg. In a flurry of black shards, it explodes - spilling forth a tiny gold body, wings already half unfurled! In a graceless tumble, she rolls head over tail, a little trill of protest splitting the air with it's fragile note - only to cease when, abruptly, she discovers herself at the bottom of the furs. One wing sagging, and one half thrown over her head, hiding one eye, she glares about herself with that whirling red gaze, a look that seems to say "And just /what/ are you all staring at?!"
On first glance, one might recoil with a start from this little *ahem* lady.. her hide so deep of shade as to appear that she's rolled in charcole, one snaggly tooth peeking out to overlap her lower jaw. Only when she moves does her true coloring show itself, glittering in a thousand pricks of golden light, reflecting as though through calm waters before fading back into shadow. Strong wings are neatly dotted with diamonds of honeyed-gold that stand out against her midnight skin like jeweled barnacles, meeting her long torso and flowing down either side in an ever smaller pattern to the tip of her serpantine tail. A little on the graceless side, she tends to lumber rather than glide, and waddling hither or thither can sometimes end her in a sprawl, but still she manages to retain a certain dignity. In truth, regardless that her appearance is less than, er, average - the disdain in this little queens multifaceted eyes shows that she's not one to be made fun of. Indeed, if anything, she looks downright regal in her own way, peering down her snout as though sizing up this world and deciding if it's worthy of her presence. Meril smiles when she sees the little gold and holds the spiderclaw tighter, between thinking whether or not she wants to attract her attention.
Ciddyn shields his little bronze from any flining shell peices that may have come from the Harvey egg. "The monster egg hatched!" he looks as if his eyes desceve him, "Its a--girl!" he explodes with laughter.
Selandra 'stares' back, not at all phased. One eyebrow arching up. "Impressive" she says, throwing a casual glance at the ring of hatching attendees.
Savannah sucks in her breath as the Harvey egg breaks apart, "Wow ...she's incredible."
St'fen is still there, his bowl of spiderclaws and wherry strips still in front of him. His new little brown is finally asleep and he leans over to comment to Selandra. "Do you think Spiderclaws will Impress her?"
Spiriel look into her lap, sighing as Riena is still squishing her hands through the contents of the bowl. If it were a tossed salad, it would have been done long ago. She looks over and watches the last egg hatch. An intake of breath is all that she allows when she first gazes at the little one. "So dark, darker than I've ever seen before. Amazing, like her egg." She looks down at her daughter, who hasn't looked up to see this new wonder, too engrossed in making a mess.
Meril looks at the little gold, her hands still stuck by her side. She looks at the people around her and wonders who will catch her eye.
Selandra grins at St'fen. "I'd really hate to say. We didn't have any on hand when Ardra hatched." she points out the ethereal coloured gold who's come back to perch on her shoulder.
Meril laughs as she opens her hands to reveal the spiderclaw clearly but tries to keep it a bit close to her body, "I was planning on only watching but..."
St'fen ohs, looking at the gold on Selandra's shoulder. "She's pretty." he remarks.
Snaggle-Toothed Black-Gold Hatchling glowers at the people around her, pulling the one flopped wing off her head to expose the other whirling, blood red eye. A grumpy chirp is sent to the onlookers and slowly she pulls herself up, only to stumble over her tail and fall snout first back into the sands - the /other/ wing now flung over her head. This is /not/ going as she expected.
Pandeira jumps a little in surprise, not just at the explosive quality of the egg but also at the very features of the young queen. She looks like she starts to say something but then bites softly at her lower lip and looks about to see what the others are doing. Her wherry is still held out, but it's not quite as fresh looking as it was at first.
Echo raises an eyebrow at the little gold. The brown on her shoulder humms at his loudest, and lets out a low whistle. "Semmie!" The red-haired girl scolds, although she giggles, and continues to feed her new bronze friend. "Hmm.. I wonder what I should name you. Any ideas?" She looks around the circle of children.
Meril takes in a deep breath and is tempted to help the little gold, but she shakes her head, "You are going to have to try and stand up yourself."
Cumara smiles as she continued to feed the little brown as she watches the others. She ooos at the gold that recently hatched.
Ciddyn looks intimidated at the little gold and scritches his chirping bronze.
Spiriel smiles at the gold. "Grumpy, aren't you? I probably would be too if there was this whole big commotion around me when I was born. Oh wait, I suppose there was, I just don't remember it." She smiles at Riena, hugging her. "There was one, when you were born."
Selandra smiles. "Would it matter if she weren't." she yelps as the gold nibbles on her earlobe defiantly, and then smiles. "You might want to break open the shell though" she observes "They tend to like the soft meat over the inedible bits, and good luck." she says to Meril.
Maia has been against this the entire time; totally and completely against this entire affair from the very beginning! But now here she stands, silently watching and joining the group. Grump. Who knows? Who knows exactly why she has decided to do this and now of all times. But here she is. Some meat is tucked away within the cusp of her hand, eyes carefully spying all that is going on. So, it is almost over. No matter at least she has made it in time. "Well.. why not.." She says in her soft tones to herself as she kneels down and just.. sits there, watching and waiting like all the others in the room.
Meril nods and takes a fresh piece of wherry and places it next to the spiderclaw, giving the hatchling a choice if she chose...
St'fen adjusts the sleeping brown into an oversized pocket on the front of his shirt. He reaches for a strip of wherry. "I'll over her something different to eat, if she wants it. You can even eat and run." he chuckles, watching the gold.
Snaggle-Toothed Black-Gold Hatchling pulls her feet back beneith herself, waddling sideways a good few inches to avoid her tail, staring at it as though it's really not attached to her and might even be something dangerous. How /dare/ it trip her?! A few tentative steps are taken forward, stumbling in the sand but managing to catch herself this time as she snaps her wings out, neck pulled back in a graceful arch. The one little snaggle tooth glints against her lower jawridge and slowly she opens her mouth into something that resembles both a hiss and a yawn. She's tired with this whole affair.. perhaps something to eat. Now then.. what looks good.
Echo glances sideways at Spiriel and her little girl, shuffling backwards on her knees again, until she's beside them. "What was it like?" The girl wonders, softly. The bronze newborn in her lap nuzzles at her semi-protruding belly curiously, and takes a nip at a piece of meat that fell. "Hey!" Echo scolds, and gently corrects, placing him in a bowl full of meat, so he doesn't chew her fingers off. Soon, that little bronze is curled up contently, amidst the bowl of meat -- his hide gooey with blood.
Meril looks at the little gold fairly curiously, but she smiles, happy to see that the gold had gotten up from her ill-timed trip.
Ciddyn gets up, cradeling his little bronze mumbling something about getting more meat from the kitchen. Ciddyn has left.
Spiriel smiles as the gold rights herself. She smiles at Echo. "It was...well, kind of indescribable. Even if I was able to explain it, it'll be different for you." The hatchling grabs her attention again, and Spiri holds out the meat to quench her hunger, if she so desires it.
Meril draws her eyes away from the gold and smiles to see Ciddyn leave with a little bronze.
Cumara smiles and strokes her little brown, who croons happily now that his stomach was full.
Pandeira says softly at last, "Talk about morning face. Maybe, when she wakes up more and has been fed some? That's how it is with my mother, a good cup of klah and her features take on a whole new look." She squints her eyes a little and peers at the gold, trying to imagine. She watches the firelizard struggle with movement and nods her head a bit in encouragement. Her wherry is still held out, but now its lowered shyly.
Echo nods thoughtfully, wetting her lips, idly watching her slumbering little bronze, and the gold firelizard. "Indescribable. Right. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
St'fen wiggles the meat a little. "She'll pick some food sooner or later." he remarks outloud, to no one in particular.
Savannah turns the wherry strip over and over in her hand, not really offering it outright, just watching the gold closely.
Meril looks at the gold, her hand isn't held out firmly and starts shaking a little. She looks at the other people surrounding her.
Snaggle-Toothed Black-Gold Hatchling humphs at the nearest offering, staring up at the young woman who holds it at chittering madly. MUCH to dry.. Don't they realize just /who/ she is?? Lumbering right past, she moves on to the next outstretched hands, glancing up at St'fen with somethin akin to disgust. Not with /that/ thing in your lap! Moving on.. moving on.. Ah HAH! What's this??? Why.. this whole /thing/ smells lovely! Who owns this thing?? Spiriels child is sniffed at, and the little blackgold creature slowly turns its..uh..unique face up to blink several lids at Spiriel as if to say "Excuse me.. is this yours? If so, may I have it please?
St'fen laughs alittle as the Gold passes him right by. "Should have had a spiderclaw." he grins.
Selandra grins "Well at least she appears to have some manners... I pity the poor bronzes who attempt to fly her."
Meril smiles and nods in agreement with Selandra, "She might not think too highly of them."
Spiriel chuckles. "It's an amazing thing, believe me. Whatever it's like, it'll be special." Her words hold warmth, for they hold meaning to her. She turns and smiles at the gold. "Hello there." She nudges Riena a moment so she notices the little one so close. Riena looks up, smeary hands waving to the gold. "Hewwo." Spiri holds the meat in an open hand. "If you're hungry, we can feed you and take care of that."
Pandeira smiles as she sees the young gold going to Spiriel with a hungry look. Her own paltry offering even now forgotten in her fingers as she watches to see what will happen. A small girl pushes against Pandy's skirt to try and see better so Pandeira moves over a few steps in a sliding shuffle.
Meril smiles at the little gold and doesn't seem to look regretful, she looks at the little child that was lucky enough to catch the gold's sharp gaze.
Echo smiles at Spiriel and Riena as the gold comes up, slowly pushing herself backwards, and dragging the bowl of meat with her bronze inside it with her. She stands, slowly, and looks around. "I'm going to go find my sister..." she says to no one in particular, hugging the bowl to her chest and walking out.
Snaggle-Toothed Black-Gold Hatchling sniffles at the little child then backs away a step as arms are waved at her. Hmm.. it's a bit more lively than she thought. But perhaps the creature holding it will do just as well, after all, if she /always/ smells this good.. Decision made, the little gold chriples sharply at Spiriel, demanding the woman give her attention /immediately/.
Echo wanders over to the First Floor Hall. Echo has left.
Snaggle-Toothed Black-Gold Hatchling stumbles towards Spiriel.
Selandra grins. "I think her wherry is cooked." she murmers teasingly... "Congratulations!" she adds warmly in a louder voice to Spiriel.
Lightning goes home. Lightning has left.
Spiriel beams at the little gold, one hand keeping her daughter steady on her lap while the other continues to feed the hatchling. "It looks like we have another addition to the family."
Savannah smiles, "Congratulations."
Maia drops her hand. Or not.
St'fen grins. "That's the secret." he scritches his little brown lump. "I like this little guy. I still need to think of a name." he too adds his congradulations to the one that Impressed the Gold of this clutch.
Pandeira starts to clap her hands with excitement and then realizes she's still holding something. The wherry gets dropped into the bowl of a helpful young man who steps around looking to clear away the unwanted scraps so that perhaps the newly impressed can use them. "Well done!" she calls out from the crowd and then looks about to see what will happen next.
Meril smiles and nods, "Congratulations!" She looks at the now empty sands with all the shattered egg shells and goop. Meril drops her hand, the wherry meat and spiderclaw still there. She looks around to see if there is some place she can put them, since there seems to be no more hatchlings left.
Jaxelle looks absolutely delighted, her whole face aglow as she stares around at all the newly formed bonds. Coming to a stop near Rhi, she nudges her best friend, grins widely, and needs very little else to express her pleasure. Stepping forward, she raises both hands for as much silence as the gesture can muster. "We've known this moment would come.. but I must say, I couldn't be more pleased. I know I'm hungry after all of this, not to mention could use a drink." she chuckles softly, "So please stay with us and enjoy the hospitality we can offer. I'm having several things brought over from Tillek and the Seacraft has graciously offered to aid in the affair. Food and Drink out in the fresh air on the beach. I'm sure we could all use a little unbaking."
Selandra shakes her head to clear it of the excitement from the hatching and stands carefully. "Thankyou for your hospitality, but I ought to head back to the Weyr. Nice meeting all you folks, and thankyou for the opportunity..." she motions her head down at the green, "to meet this little one." she smiles reassuringly at the disappointed ones. "There'll be other hatchings, I'm sure."
Aralia wanders over to the First Floor Hall. Aralia has left.
Selandra wanders over to the First Floor Hall. Selandra has left.
St'fen stands, stretching his legs out.
Cumara smiles to Jaxelle. "Thank you, I might stay before going back to Igen weyr."
Savannah gets up and refills her klah mug, a small smile on her face, "That was interesting. I'd never seen a gold quite like her." she says to nobody in particular.
Spiriel sighs in relief as Riena falls asleep in her lap. The little girl has finally tired herself out. Spiri continues to feed the hatchling where she is, to take the edge off her hunger, before standing with the others. Before doing anything else, though, she tries to get as much of the...mess...off as she can.
Pandeira waves to those leaving but looks very excited at the prospect of getting to spend a little more time around the Seacraft Hall. She pulls her skirts back out of the way of a boy with a broom who seems to be working to get some of the shards and scraps out of the way.
Meril smiles and shakes her head, "I better go back to the Hold now. I need to feed my firelizards waiting there." With that said, she places the spiderclaw and wherry into the bowl and walks towards the door, "Congratulations!"
St'fen manages to make his way to Jaxelle's side. "Hi."
Meril wanders over to the First Floor Hall. Meril has left.
Rhi looks around the room at the hatchlings and visitors alike, chuckling as Jaxelle nudges her. "Or.... You're welcome to stay in here and help yourself from the hearth." She gives a quick grin to her friend "I'm going to go and make sure that all is in order on the beach. I'll meet you down there?"
With a laugh, Jaxelle turns to eye St'fens new friend, her smile fond. "He's beautiful, St'fen. Congratulations. Oh shells and shards what a night! Care to join us for some klah or wine out on the beach?" she motions to the doorway and in doing so spots Spiriel, asking the rider to accompany her as she goes to the womans side, her voice held at a whisper. "Spiriel.. congratulations! Would you care for me to have /this/ little taken for a sleep in the nanny's quarters so you can deal with /that/ little?" Jaxelle nods and waves to Rhi brightly.
Maia approaches Jaxelle and quietly says, ".. it was nice.." Nodding to Rhi as well.
Savannah wanders over to the First Floor Hall. Savannah has left.
