How To Wear Hijab [Continued]

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim

Step 1

This method is for using the long rectangular shaped dupatta, a Pakistani or Indian scarf. First, open the scarf completely.

Step 2

Drape the scarf over the top of your head and coming across your forehead. Make it shorter on one side- approximately falling just lower than your shoulder- and longer hanging down on the other side.

Step 3

Holding the edge of the scarf on either side of your face, tuck the edges tightly behind your ears. Also, try to keep the edge lying low across your forehead by your eyebrows.

Step 4

Continue to hold the short end of the scarf in place with one hand. With the other hand, leave the edge of the long side tucked behind the ear (though some of the scarf will usually wrap over the ear, covering it) and begin pulling that side under your chin.

Step 5

Continue pulling the long edge of the scarf under the chin and then up along the opposite side of your face so that it covers the other ear (which has the short end tucked behind it) and up toward the top of your head.

Step 6

Pull the edge over the top of your head and back down on the side of your face which you started from. Pull the scarf down and wrap it under your chin. Tuck it in securely under your chin.

Step 7

You may want to pin it in place with a safety pin from underneath. Otherwise you will be continually tucking it back in under your chin.

Step 8

This should result in a securely placed hijab that forms a nice drape across the body as well.
